Minimum age for a No Vota cedula?

I asked this question in another thread, but unfortunately the thread was closed. Does anyone know for certain ar what age a Dominican minor can get a No Vota cedula? I have been told 15 and 16 by two different people.

    Dominican children held by Migracion

Yes, you are broadly correct. In my kids' case, they were taken to the centre at Santiago, where they were held overnight. It certainly was traumatic, as they were in cells with adults, in disgusting conditions. So much so, that as soon as they were released they were taken to a hotel to clean...

    Dominican children held by Migracion

Well, these kids, especially the girl, could be mistaken for older, I suppose, but I wouldn't think so. But if their age is mistaken, what are they supposed to do? Just accept being illegally deported? They do not have cedulas because they are too young and nobody should have to carry around...

Informal parking entrepreneurs are the plague, authorities look the other way

Well, I have to agree with that, because they could be gaining the money they need by more dangerous means, and it is my attitude to the car window washers at traffic lights too. I don't like either set of people, but I do give them a few pesos.

    Dominican children held by Migracion

I don't think so, because they are not fully grown.

Thanks for your advice, but I don't use Google.

    Dominican children held by Migracion

Right, and that is why I am now giving them copies of their passports, with their photos to carry around with them to back up their identities. It would be crazy to expect fourteen-year-old kids to carry their original birth certificates and passports and it shouldn't be necessary.

    Dominican children held by Migracion

Haven't you seen the photos on Migracion trucks loaded with people - some of them children. I am sure children may be left alone in some cases, but in this case, the kids being fourteen, they are nearly fully grown, although I certainly wouldn't mistake them for adults.

    Dominican children held by Migracion

Right, but that was all they had and I wasn't around to provide the original birth certificates. Remember, the mother was desperate (naturally) to get her children back and was just doing anything she could.

"With Trump in charge"? I don't see what he has to do with this, but the DR government are certainly copying his methods.

Nobody knows about the father. He doesn't appear on the birth certificate.

    Dominican children held by Migracion

The fourteen-year-old Dominican twins that I help have been taken away by Migracion for the second time. Obviously, at that age they don't have cedulas. They were in Sabaneta, innocently shopping in a Chinese shop when the Imigracion squad arrived and hauled them off to their truck. The kids'...

Little local awareness of the climate change impact, call for more resilient building

But surely even you realise that no matter how much you read, it very much depends on your source of reading material. Of course, you know that internet algorithms just give you more of what they know is your point of view, so you rarely read the other side. Fortunately, I don't think DR1 has...

Informal parking entrepreneurs are the plague, authorities look the other way

These people drive me crazy. Why should I pay to stop my car on a public street where there are no formal parking restrictions. I usually say that I will pay them when I return if my car is still there in good condition. Often, they have gone when I return. So much for "looking after my car".

    Safety in The DR

Good question. I have lived here for fifteen years and have never felt the need to have one. None of my friends here have them either.

Little local awareness of the climate change impact, call for more resilient building

We can all be well read, but it depends on the source of material that you read. Anyway, I'm not indulging in more back and forth - I am well aware of the apparent majority view on DR1.

De Camps unveils his vision for public education

Hopefully they will also have the kids having less days off school. The kids I support seem to spend almost as much time at home as at school during the term, despite the fact that they want to be in school.
