Havana Club Anejo Especial

Do you remember what they charge in Cuba for the Havanna Club rum?
Prices may vary a bit (type of rum, location...), but the price on my bottle from March '05 is 5.90 Covertible Pesos, which is about US$6.37.

Hey helpman are you the same helpman from ISG? ;)

Anyway, Matusalem hasn't been made in Cuba for a few years. The owners won a lawsuit against the cuban government and they couldn't use the name any longer. But i'll tell you a little secret, next time down there try Ron Santiago A?ejo, it's what Matusalem a?ejo used to be, just the name changed. A much better rum than Havanaclub 7 a?os or any other rum procuced down there.

The new Matusalem is made in DR and is great! i can find it anywhere here in Miami. This is the one i like...

Cant say I am a great fan of the Siboney, smooth yes but lacking in body and flavor. I still prefer Barcelo Imperial, and i would like to try the anniversary stuff. Barbancourt 5 etoiles is great too. Gosling's Black Seal is very good too if you like the really dark stuff, and it is much better than Myers, which is too sweet and syrupy. The best Rum though that I have ever had comes from the British Caribbean isles -- there is one that is currently available in NYC for about twenty bucks, comes in a handmade bottle, Planter's Rum. It is a Demerara style rum and is smooth but potent, plenty of character. Good sipping rum.

I'm a Brugal girl. Okay.... and I love the nets on the bottles. I collect them, wear them and all on the resort and in the village know me as the brugal chica.

Depends what/who you mix/drink it with:

1) with fresh coconut water, Siboney Rojo

2) with fresh grapefruit juice, Barcel? A?ejo

3) straight, while playing dominoes with campesino friends in Azua and San Juan de la Maguana, Brugal Extraviejo.

is there a good coconut rum around? I think I bought something awhile back in a "blue island picture" wrapped bottle- it was barely passable. I really like Cruzan coconut rum, so I hit the duty free in San Juan airport everytime I am through. If I could find something local (sosua/POP) that is good and cheaper, being the pina colada nut I am, I might just change and save $10 a month!
