This is exactly the kind of thinking that gets things done. How many people remember harlem when it was just a bunch of condemned, or burnt down buildings? With as much crime, and "ghetto-ness" as any campo or barrio in D.R. ?This is how neighborhoods are turned around. Through re-investment. There's nothing "ghetto" about that, just ask the folks who are getting rich re-investing in Harlem, NY and South East Washington, DC. What could possibly be wrong with financially investing into a community which you are already culturally and emotionally vested in?
Now rent is upwards of 2500/month for 1 bedrooms. there are starbucks, and chain stores all over the place. it can be done.
people act like DR is the only places with very poor, or dangerous areas. They exist everywhere in every major city in this world. All of those area's can be turned around.
This is one of the reasons why some of these girls become the subject of the threads in the "Men from mars and women from venus " forum. Guys continuely do wrong by them, and then they decide to play the same game being played on them. The OP obviously cares about the "novia" so suggesting that he toss her and get a more financially suitable partner may just be the most soulless and hard hearted response offerred to date and by it's very nature it shouldn't merit consideration, expecially in light of the fact that she doesn't seem to have done anything in particular to violate his affection for her.
I would suggest that if the OP really cares for his "novia" that he should consider looking for a rental property for her in a better area and subsidizing the difference. It's aggravation insurance. If he cares enough about her to worry for her safety in the present living arrangement then this is the only sensible alternative. I just hope she proves worthy of his trust.
i thought about this. The difference would be probably about 1500-3000pesos/month. i havent offered it yet, we aren't at that stage of the relationship.
