Debt Trap Diplomacy

Zambia is reportedly in talks with China over acquiring its main power company after defaulting on loan repayment

This is according to a report by Africa Confidential titled Bills, Bonds and even Bigger Debts claiming that Zambia risks losing its sovereignty to China which is bound to seize its national assets once the government defaults on loans.

As stated before, Kenya is on track to lose its port facilities by the end of this year.

Belt and Road is an imperial project on the cheap. All of the construction materials and virtually all of the labor comes directly from China--regardless of the shipping and labor costs. All these countries are doing is paying double. It's a ridiculous and humiliating way to enslave your population to ruthless overlords who show no quarter.

"A major worry of the IMF and US is that China’s BRI strategy is first to encourage indebtedness, and then to take over strategic national assets when debtors default on repayments. The state electricity company ZESCO is already in talks about a takeover by a Chinese company, AC has learned.

"The long-term outcome could be effective Chinese ownership of the commanding heights of the economy and potentially the biggest loss of national sovereignty since independence,” the report read.

I can see nothing but red flags, yet the Dominican Republic's political classes keep moving forward with this project. I have little doubt, the money they take in the form of bribes and kickbacks will be used to purchase castles in Spain and their escape from the country once its enslavement becomes official.

A revolt which would be easily tamed by providing a gallon of gas to Motoconchos, a box with 5 pounds of rice, beans and sardines to the maids, and a week free ride tickets in the teleferico and metro to the Tigres.

On August, Danilo is back on the seat.

Three Chinese airlines (Air China, South China, and Eastern China) already sent representatives to meet with the JAC (Dominican Civil Aviation) with intention of starting flights from China to DR as soon as both countries sign air service agreement.

According to market research based on the growing in interest in China of the DR as a tourist destinations, in no small part due to the focus the Chinese media has given the country since establishing formal diplomatic relations; roughly 2 million Chinese can potentially visit the DR spending over US$5,700 per person.

Chinese tourists are the highest spending according to the World Tourism Organization.

Yes, but a few dozen high profile violent murders of Chinese tourists in the DR, and the Chinese will go elsewhere.

Are Chinese tourists flooding into Venezuela?

Good news. Maybe we'll finally have some really good Chinese restaurants here!

I don't know if you have ever eaten Chinese food in mainland China, but it is very different from what is served outside of it. I would rather have Chinese Americans moving in from North Carolina then Beijing.

China’s top diplomat arrives Thurs. amid investment expectations:

Santo Domingo.- "China Foreign minister, Wang Yi, will arrive in the Dominican Republic
Thursday, when major announcements are expected, including possible investments in
various local areas.

Quoting a local source outlet El Caribe reports that the official will hold meetings with president
Danilo Medina and senior government officials.

The meetings will also serve to hammer out details of Medina’s visit to his China counterpart
Xi Jinping before year end. Dominican Republic and China established diplomatic on April 30,
as announced in joint press conferences in Beijing and Santo Domingo."

Sad to say but it appears the Chinese money train is on its way to town.
No doubt Medina is eager to bring them in as quickly as possible. His next
campaign is going to be an expensive one now that L. Fernandez has jumped
into the mix. I know what yall are thinking... Wait a minute, Danilo can't run
for president a third time... seriously???

With so many different regions of China, it would likely depend on where you ate the food. The Chinese food I had in Taiwan was good no matter where I ate, but for the couple of weeks I was there I mostly ate with locals while on a business trip.
