The guy wearing the N95 mask with a valve, who is the incoming DR President, has had CV19. So he may or may not be "clear".

Unless you are tested almost every day, how do you know? Remember how most people have little to no symptoms
but can still spread the disease, even ones who get sick can spread the disease before they feel sick. That is how we
got to this point in the world today.

The reason governments wants people to wear masks is to prevent spreading their CV19 to others.
It is NOT about protecting only yourself with an N95 mask with a valve.
Remember, most of the masks are simple cloth masks.

Wearing a mask with a valve is ridiculous, since as you pointed out, he is only protecting himself.

I stand by my statement that it is stupid for people to wear N95 style masks with valves the expel their breath directly into the environment
if they think that will do anything significant to reduce the spread of CV19. The vast majority of people won't be tested and won't know that they are contagious.

All that said, all the mask wearing in the world is not going to stop CV19.

"Wearing a mask with a valve is ridiculous, since as you pointed out, he is only protecting himself."
Could you please explain why it is ridiculous to protect oneself?

Two guys, one with virus one without or unknown.
If both wear N95 they (especially the healthy one) are protected from getting the virus via air. They may still get it via touching a door knob and picking their nose, but the chance of getting infected this way is much, much lower.
Same applies to a group where everyone wears N95.

Wearing your girlfriends underwear? Don't be surprised to end up in hospital.
Long live N95!

There are a lot worse places to be in the world right now and you still need to wear all the protection. I can be walking the beach of the Caribbean Sea or I can be in a urban city. I can play golf with no one else on the course or be shut out of golf altogether. I can go on but why waste my time with your sense of humor. Have a good day.

News reports hint at broad sweeping restrictions to come after the S.O.E. is in effect. Nothing to close the borders, probably some sort of night time curfew but definitely measures to keep people apart . Not sure how effective half measures will be but we'll find out what they are going to do Sunday night or Monday sometime.

The virus has been found in even the most remote and isolated areas in the DR. In areas that are very vulnerable and no way to fight it other then Gov. or private help.

Point is, this virus has spread every where. No getting away from it and if YOU don't do what is needed, then WE will be in the same sh*t as many places in the US and south America. AKA=DEAD!

Sftjourney.org.

We again met with and got an update with the Straight for the Journey.

Understandably have had set backs but still move forward. We were able to donate masks and other needed items but it's the Education that is so important on so many levels.

If it's in those remote spots in the hills, odds are it's right outside your door....

Don't be a Karen. Step up and do what's needed.

Curfews won't affect the AI's and that's where most of the tourist revenue comes from. Tourist revenue in Cabarete and Sosua is a drop in the bucket.

But the AI's need staff who often live miles away, they need transport to and from the airports, they need companies to supply them with food and drinks, and then all those people need to get to and from work 24 hours a day. You can't keep a 1000 bedroom hotel open in isolation. I guess you could say that Punta Cana / Bavaro can operate as normal but restrict traffic on the highway only to essential supply vehicles for the hotels and separate from the rest of the island.

The tourism has not really got going, i think this will knock it down the line 45 days or so.

September and October are always the worst times of year for hotels due to hurricane season. The association of hotels and restaurants have said many times if they cannot open in August, they may as well liquidate all their staff and close until November or even December. So this could have dire consequences.

Are the staff getting paid now at the resorts are closed?

Here's an idea. There's many vacant rooms on these properties. Have the staff live there temporarily which will reduce the chances of infection. It would kind of be like the NBA bubble.

I think as along as the AI staff wear masks, use hand sanitizer, practice social distancing, etc,, the risk to them is as low as or lower than that of employees working in supermarkets and flight crews bringing the tourists here. And with AI's at less than 20% occupancy, it shouldn't be hard to establish safe protocols for guests either.
