So here is my experience in DGII (santo domingo). Upon taking juanita's advice I went to the DGII office on bolivar between Churchill and Lincoln in santo domingo. Upon arriving at the scene chaos in front of the GDII office, I was horrified to see huge lines of people, even as far out as around the block under the hot punishing sun. I was able to park the car 2 blocks down. Then with I reached the building, I almost felt dizzy looking at the enraged crowd. There was no way I was going to get my marbete sticker this century. People were not allowed to enter the office unless one has a number which was being called. meaning, you needed a proximate number to even enter the building, the rest simply wait outside. Mind you, my number was 789 and I think they were calling in like 276. So I was wayyyyy behind.
Now it was time to play the tigre game. I went up to the military guard at the door. He flatly refused to talk to me and told me to go get the ticket. damn, my charm didn't even get to work. No chance.
Now I saw another guard come out, more pleasant looking than the first one. So I told him that I was a chiropractor and working. I need to get this sticker as soon as possible and if he helps me, I will give him a free office visit. As usual, he was suffering from back pain. As he let me in, a man behind me (even bigger tigre than I am) tells him that we are together and walks in with me. i simply laughed it off. No problem, come in.
Even with the VIP escort I had to wait 45 minutes (in A/C- thanks god) to get my marbete sticker. Paid a 600 pesos fine. No problem. I was in and out in 45 minutes. Then I had to sneak out to avoid anyone killing me for bypassing everyone. There was a war going outside the building. I walked out with 2 guards with guns. Hehehehe.
So all it cost me is my business card and as usual, they never come to my office. He will lose my business card the next day.
This is why I love this country. Viva corruption.
