Santo Domingo.- Women prostitutes affiliated to the Integral Orientation and Research Center (COIN) and the movement Modemu on Thursday asked Dominican Republic law enforcement agencies to ?let us work in peace? and put a halt to what the they call police abuse.

They asked Justice minister Francisco Dom?nguez to order and end to the persecution against them.

COIN director Santo Rosario and Modemu president Jacqueline Montero lodged the complaint to open the "Forum on violence based on gender and the human right to sexual work."

Dominguez "persecutes sex workers, but doesn?t make efforts to include them in social security and any program that leads them out of this situation of vulnerability as a public policy."

They said the situation reached the limit recently, both verbally and physically, including a raid last Friday at the disco Sensacion, located at the upscale sector of Gazcue, where they affirm ?their money disappeared."

So what are the cops gonna do when they can't harass hookers anymore? Harass the tourists?
Social security for hookers? Next they also want to be tax exempt. ;)

Nothing wrong with making this profession more legal.. Perhaps they can also start a university for this where they can learn everything?

What do you mean they can learn everything? Are you talking about trades\careers or about their own profession?
If it's their own profession most of them are taught at home ;)

Some can learn about how to handle their profit, and public hygene etc..

It's Union Time!

You have a better chance at hearding cats. But , just sayingbif iy happened, and the girls listen to the union and price themselves out of a job. Then the Mayor would claim responsibility for the absence of mongers. Hahahah

DV8 your inner European is coming out with the tax part. TAX TAX how about lets figure any chica out selling her poom poom in the street( which is perfectly legal) is poor. So realistically why not just stop an armed gang from robbing and taking free produce from the people in which it should be protecting. Granted most whores are heartless wretches and will rob anything they can, however if one isnt robbing, rolling or killing someone they should be allowed to be unmolested.

This whole tax tax thing is so ludicrous. The more the govt takes in TAX the more they steal and the more people get screwed.

At least the whores are up front about the price.

I imagine how a street prostitute says to her client "Mi amor, mi tarifa es 1500 pesos plus ITBIS".
