You CAN live here more freely than in any first world country. But mostly if you don't have to carry your wealth around, and worry about it.

In another thread that I just noticed is closed, he seems to think that Mexicans and Dominicans are at war because we hate eachother. Poor fool probably comes from a thuggish, gang infested area where gangs may show their dislikes for other groups. But that does not represent the entire MEXICAN PEOPLE. In L.A many mexicans hate blacks and vice versa. But to say that mexicans hate blacks or that blacks hate mexicans based on some neighborhoods thugs fighting for "drugs distributing" territories is just playing crazy.
Being proud to be Dominican is not something learned, but something that we are born with, and are very thankful to god.
Our spirit and energy is always high and ready to talk, smile, or dance a merengue even if we are just getting up at 5:00 am in the morning. Many americans, you would have to get out of their way when they get up in the morning. Many are sluggish, drag their feet, and will have a very long unfriendly face until they get that morning cup of coffee in their system.
But our values will mostly depend on the teaching by our parents, the level of education, social scale, and of course, some willingness to do the right thing..

Man you are a piece of work. First of all you have NO idea what you are talking about I live in a city where there are ZERO Dominican gangs. Mexican gangs and Dominican gangs will NEVER cross paths because they are in different parts of the country. Notice I never said the word HATE you said hate because that is your type of mindset, I said a strong dislike. I bet you believe Puerto Ricans LOVE Dominicans also. 1. The USA is a very large country and people are totally different depending on the part you reside in. For example the people of the SOUTH are very friendly and they wake up with a GREAT feeling and are always polite WITHOUT coffee. Now of course people from NYC Chicago Washington DC have different outlook on life because the city LIFE is more STRESSFUL.

3. The last sentence you wrote about the values you could have STOP at SOCIAL SCALE, because you and I know that is the ONLY thing that matter in the DR.( If I hang out in Villa Duarte in SD, I am SCUM!!!, but if I hang out in Piantini or la Trinitaria I'm a HELL of a GUY)
Mr DR I know your world I understand that you have a problem that I know your world, I have been to Amanda, Alma Rosa, Naco, Bella Vista, la Zona, Villa Duarte, Los Minas, La Castellana, Santiago, San Pedro, LT, San, Juan,Bani etc. I have daughter who is about to have B-Day in SD so I have a pretty good idea of your world, not to mention the countless Dominicans in PR.
You on the otherhand I NEVER been to Chicago, Humboldt PK, Lincoln Pk, DePaul U, ( Go Blue Demons), Birmingham Alabama, Ponce, PR, Aguascalientes, Mexico, so until you sit have a conversation with people from some of the places I named above you have NO idea who I am or where I come from, BUT I know EXACTLY where Mr DR comes from. Now the day I start to listen to some NICKEL and Dime Dominican about their values so SUPERIOR then Americans is the day I believe Sammy Sosa is going to the Hall of Fame. I have talked to Dominicans in DR, NYC, and PR so I have a good idea about Dominicans values. I'm Dominican and I have had Puerto Ricans tell me stuff about Dominicans. One even decided to warn me for my own safety. lol
One time I was wondering if I should say anything, but considering I was in their home and while the lovely (lol) lady of the house gave me a beer, continued on to tell me and a friend all the horrors of the Dominicans. In the end I decided to keep my mouth shut. They were very emotional about this.

I searched & saw this movie last night on utube (I love to watch International films), but not sure if it shows the "real DR.". It's just entertainment. .The reason, from it being recommended here, I thought it was going to be more documentary-like.
I also saw the movie Sanky Panky on utube. It is soooooo funny!
I just watched the movie and I liked it. It also shows how the rich think of los negritos, in their eyes they are the servants and it was displayed very well in the movie.
