Matilda, my friend has a 24 year old son with DS and she took him to POP with us in 2004. I have to say that everyone was wonderful to him, the staff all went out of their way to befriend him and were very attentive. When we went into the towns, the people were all very kind to him. At one point my friend needed to go further along the way to get something and her son was just too tired to go on. One of the vendors at the Sousa beach huts offered him his chair and said he will be okay here. When we returned there was her son chugging on a cold bottle of water, since my friend hadn't left him with any money this kind gentleman sent his son to the store to buy him a bottle of water. I think you will find that everyone will be wonderful to your friend's child, at least that was our experience. I have to say though, our service was drastically reduced for the second week after he left.
