26 1/2 hours, 15 posts (10 off subject) & NAL's has not been back to rebuke us - is it something we said maybe??

Maybe we should get back on topic here. We are talking about how the lowest of the low in Sosua are of a higher socio-economic standing (because of the low quality area that they live in) than AZB who lives among the upper crust of Dominican personalities & therefore is not as readily accepted there!:cheeky: :bunny:

What's Up you Old Bone Cruncher, things quiet in the office & no-one to argue with today?? I won't ruin your reputation by telling everyone that in a face to face situation you are quite a charming & friendly guy, but I don't buy your desire to stir things up by getting on to your hate soapbox against the North Coast. Let's keep this on track just in case NAL's returns!! :surprised ~ Grahame.

Go To Page 5 of This Thread! You Will SEE What This Is ALL ABOUT!

There are about 10 posts on page 5, 6 of the 10 are by "NALS", including 5 in a row!!! Guess that tells us a little about his "Socalled Life"!
Now about ABZ! The only guy in the DR who couldn't get laid even with a fist full of 2000 pesos notes!
I looked up "Social Climber" in the dictionary, and there was his picture!
The funny part is,he hangs out with "Wannabees",and thinks they are bigshots! His comment about "Dominican Politicians being from the upper class of Dominican society" proves that! Leonel is just a "Dominican Jork" for God's sake! And Pena Gomez a "Half-Hatian"! The REAL Elite of Dominican Society wouldn't want to run for any political office. They already have money, they don't need to steal any from the People!

Put on your reading glasses old man, maybe you have too much fat on your eyes to read what I wrote.
here is what i wrote:
Now about the politicians, why do you think they are all from the upper crust of dominican society? They may be corrupt but show me one american mayor form a decent sized city who has retired poor?
AZB

i am saying the same thing as you are stating. i was asking the question: why do you think the politicians are of upper crust of dominican society? this is my point, they are not.

Bushbaby, please, lets not fool each other here. I have lived in northcoast but you can't say the same about santiago or capital. north coast is full of low life scums. The richer upper class dominicans there don't talk to foreigners who drink cuba libre and chase ugly hookers. You know better than that to argue my point.

Silly Billy Aftab - I'm not trying to fool you & you certainly can't fool me!! :pirate: M'thinks it is your good-self that needs the reading glasses, NOT CCCC

I have lived in northcoast but you can't say the same about santiago or capital.
This thread is NOT about you or me Aftab - it is about socio-economic clap-trap! Just to correct things though - you never LIVED up here on the north coast - you existed for a while trying to scrape a living together. Finding better pickings in the Santiago area, you naturally moved down there. What you ......... Naaaaahh not worth the effort of explaining!! :tired:

north coast is full of low life scums. The richer upper class dominicans there don't talk to foreigners who drink cuba libre and chase ugly hookers.
As I have never mixed with the north coast low life scum &/or the Cuba Libre drinking foreigners who chase ugly hookers, I can not attest as to whether the richer upper crust Dominicans talk to them. I bow to your greater experiences in this matter. You obviously DO cohort with them to know such things.

You know better than that to argue my point.
It is ALWAYS a pleasure to argue with you Aftab. I will continue to do so when I feel you have a 'point' to argue with - rare that such occurrences are however!! :cheeky:

Now, instead of trying to attack the north coast, CCCCC, bDaric etc. can we PLEASE get back onto topic??? What was it now?? - NALs for President in 2008?? Ahhh, but to represent which socio-economic class & which ladrone Party?? ~ Grahame.

I Have Met Some "Highclass Foreigners" On The North Coast!

And believe me,AZB,you are NO Highclass Foreigner!
If we "Mean" the "Same Thing",you have a strange way of stating it!

Nothing wrong with "Hookers",just a way to take advantage of people, kind of like "Chiropractic"!:cheeky:
They both lay you down on a bed,rub you "here and there" for a few minutes, you "groan", get up,and they charge you 10 times what it was worth!
CUM to think of it,the "Hookers" offer a better service at a better price. A hooker doesn't have to tell you when the "Session" is over! You are getting "SCREWED" no matter what!

AZB,get a new "schtick" ! Your "Sosua" is filled with "low Life Hookers, being chased by ignorant drunken "Gringos" is getting just a "LITTLE" repetative!

When people surround themselves with hookers, barrio trash and putas, they begin to see things like CC. I have never said I am high class but I will say that I am not attracted to barrio folks and I will certainly not marry one for sure.
Now bushbaby, I have been visiting POP since 1986, I have lived in POP, barrio invi2, then next to brugal factory and then in costambar. I have lived from barrio to gringo town costamber and I knew pop better than you could imagine. There is not much to know about POP to begin with, to me its a campo with a beach. there are very few quality people who live there and the ones who are quality folks stay in their area only. Now if you go back a few years and reread your own posts, you will notice whenever someone asked a question about the current events in puerto plata, you would always mention "let me ask my maid as to what she has heard.....". hahahahaha, some source of current events on your town. Bushbaby, I knew POP then and I know not much has changed ever since. i was there a few days ago and I have seen the same trash i saw many years ago. Now sosua is even worse. You might be very impressed with your town but let me tell you this, we live in different countries.
CC, you you are in a class all by yourself. You fit in there perfectly and you know it. No wonder you feel so welcomed in sosua, you are one of them.

You & I have different ways of looking at most things CC but in this case we tend to agree (Sorry!!). M'thinks the man doth protest too much thereby confirming his own position!!

He only met my maid once (& being the snooty person he is did not communicate with her) so how would HE know the level of her knowledge & perception? How pugnacious of him!! How terribly 'Lower Class trying to be better class'!!

On my oft visits to 'The Centre of the Universe' I will now be pleased to ask those I speak to as to their knowledge of this 'High Roller in Dominican Society' & report back accordingly. I started responding in humour & jesting with the poor, bigoted sole. The laughter is still there within me, however the cause of the laughter has shifted somewhat!! ~ Grahame.

I see things simply, her level of knowledge is exactly in level with the knowledge of a maid. thats why she is a maid and not a journalist. Now here is a question to all of you folks who live in DR.
Are you all folks seriously impressed with your maid's level of intelligence? hahahaha
Give me a break grahame.

I think of itelligence as someones potential.

Someone I know well, left Sussex University with a degree in Physics, he needed some quick money, so with his good brain for numbers got a "temporary" job dealing cards in a Brighton Casino.
He never left the business and wound up as Southern Regional Director for entertainment in Britain for the company he worked for.
My point is, the high rollers, probably important and or wealthy folk no doubt would not have given him a second thought in a pecking order if held in the Casino at that time.
He however, could quite arguably be considered as the smartest or most intelligent person in the joint!(and an expert in low temp physics in his field)
If you know nothing about mechanics how smart are you compared to the guy who fixes your bike?
I'd say its all relative........(a little Einsteinism)
So instead of putting oneself on a pillar above others and looking down on those less fortunate, be a little more forgiving for peoples faults. They may not be as bad or evil as you think.......

That's true CCCC, it does get a little boring when repeated so often. But you've got to understand where it stems from. We've all chosen to live in a society which displays to a varying degree sexism, classism & racism. Perhaps more so than our countries of origin. We all have our own ways of handling this as we have adjusted to life here. But there are some factors we cannot change and one is the colour of our skins. Sometimes those very colours will act as a barrier to being really accepted by Dominican 'elites'. Those of us who are white have a much easier time than those of us who aren't. So let the warm & fuzzy side of you surface, CCCC, :) & go easy on AZB. He's battling something which isn't in his power to change.

And in case Nals thinks this is off topic, how the host society views an expats' social class is possibly more relevant to living here than the expats own perception.

Ahhhh, so it WASN'T Aftab shunning our maid after all?? It was HER shunning HIM!!! Probably the same problem at John's daughters wedding where the girls were left on their own at the table? Maybe that is why business was so quiet for him up here too? :ermm: :cheeky: Sorry AZB, didn't realise that small problem!! :squareeye

I think NALs has given up on us here which is a pity as it started off as such an interesting thread! Social class & Breeding is very important to Dominicans! ~Grahame.

bang on bob.........

Your economic figures do not line up with education or class for that matter. For example most drug dealers bring considerable more than a university professor or a banking excutive. An oil worker in northern Canada brings $10,000 dollars per month, not much education required. I've seen poor people with more " class " in their little finger than many millionairs have. Social Class is more than the amount of money you have.
gotta go with this one above.money DOES NOT buy you class.just look around you at the people with that little bit more than others.
95% have there heads stuck up their @zz's and i certainly would not "value"the opinion of a awful nbr of these "witch folks"::cry: unless its a narrow minded (imo)tight @zz,and more narrow minded view than from your salt of the earth types.and i have met the top to the bottom.
having said that REALLY rich people who have had it in the family for generations and therefore KNOW how to behave with ALL people are good people to be around.but your newbie rich or "most'MIDDLE CLASS'S are still trying to figure out "how" they should act.
and behaving like a "snob"(ha,ha)does not show class or intellegence.quite the contrary in fact.::glasses:

Hey this is written by a relatively newbie. Don't pay attention to this, he or she has low status here!!!
According to the gospel of NALs: post Number 26 verse 15

imho a very well thought out and written post;)
