and yes, it beats me to see how much time local women spend on making themselves look "light" - hair relaxers, bleaching creams. i guess it corresponds to time and money spent by caucasians to make themselves look "darker" - perm and fake tan....

DV8 - like the saying goes: Thats another show altogether. I am one of the ones that relaxes her hair and I think that doing a doobie is part of everyday life - there is nothing wrong with having GREAT hair that moves when the wind blows... the skin bleachin is another story. But I dont think thats what this thread is about at all.

hair coloring....

On the way to Sosua for a small getaway, hubby and I stopped at CarreFour. I decided to purchase hair dye as roots were starting to show and they had the brand I normally used when in the states, Garnier. They actually had the color I wanted too (light blond).
So one late afternoon I decided to quickly do my hair. Should have suspected something was wrong when I found two color paks in the box. Just thinking, they had given me an extra pak, I mixed up the solution and used the entire bottle on my blond hair.
I stepped out of the bathroom and Dh said, "Is that stuff normally that dark?"
A quick check of the gabage found the 'extra' color pak I had used was the DARKEST shade of black the company produces!
Washed it out immediately, but hair dried to a very dark strawberry blond.
Now, I look to be sure the pkg hasn't been opened, and then check and re-check the color paks!

OK, doing that stuff is off limits here for us on this board. It is if I remember correctly from my youth .. it is smoking a joint. No more on this subject.

A doobie is way to put your hair up for the night, therefore when you brush it down in the morning it has more body and bounce. They sort of wrap your hair around your head...
IT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH MARIJUANA!
I get a doobie after my rollers and blower EVERY sunday, and believe me, my job does not permit what you were implying!!!

I have to admit I did not know. Just goes to show we can all learn something new everyday.;) I thought it was odd being hair was being discussed , so I asked.

We have had MANY a discussion on the Ultimate Domincan Blowout and Dubie (AKA Doobies, dubi, duby, and any which way you want to spell it). It is basically what Sking explained... Nobody can undo a nap like a Dominican blowdry can!!

Todos...gracias por muchas risas.

Dh has pointed out expired chicken to clerks and been told "Don't worry, it's been frozen since that date!"

Dios mio was his reply.

TD and co - isn't the hair thing called TUBI?

As all we relics of the 60s and 70s know, 'Doobie' is what Chris thought it was.:smoke:

For heaven's sake .. don't call that tubi thing a doobie! We will have the doobie police and drug enforcement all over us!:laugh::laugh:

Here I was thinking some respected female member of this community has good hair because she relaxes with a doobie every day !

A bottle of ron...with instructions "Do not open after sealed"...we tried in vain to figure out how to get the ron out without unsealing the bottle!!!!!! I can't recall the brand, which tells you that we did get the ron out.
