There was a young man with her who turned himself in and is cooperating with the police.
Well he probably wasn’t Dominican or Haitian because neither would have turned themselves in. They would have been in Dajabon by now.
If half these rumors turn out to be true, no responsible staff member working at a resort would allow a young female guest to walk out of their sight at this hour of the morning especially if she appeared to be at all intoxicated.

And there it is.
The RIU was totally destroyed online for a multi-day power outage. Reporting news sources indicate this was happening over the same dates as the missing girl.

The third link @MiamiDRGuy posted in #72 is from the private Dominican Republic Expats group. I saw that this morning, and the very first comment I saw was from a person saying she was found drowned, and when people asked her to give a source, she never did so. Speculation is one thing...stating it as a fact is another...gotta love all the social media "journalists"
At this point, is there any value in releasing that info? If they police actually were to detain someone as a suspect, that would be different. Right now that does not seem to be the case.
Never happen because it creates negative publicity. The government and the resorts cover up sexual assaults, food poisoning deaths, tainted alcoholic products, etc. Wave conditions are a factor but hidden undertow seems to be the main issue. Some resorts post warning flags on the beach when the winds create strong wave conditions. The bare minimum. You still get people who think they know better heading into the water during dangerous conditions. I’ve witnessed it at many resort beaches. I’m surprised there aren’t more drownings.
