Like everyone else on this thread, it’s pure speculation on my part Hijo. No evidence to suggest she did, no evidence to suggest she didn’t. Merely replying to CR’s post. My gut feeling like many other posters is she is a drowning victim. Her resort friend referred to as cornpone doesn’t appear to be the sharpest knife in the drawer. I doubt he has the ability to plan her demise in a cold blooded manner and carry through with it. The video evidence indicated he spent most of his time inebriated to the point where he could barely function. She was probably gone before he realized she was gone, panic set in, and things went downhill for him after that.
Hey, just keeping you on your toes, sir!

Gee, I wonder why they are doing that if it is a simple drowning, cut and dry? Why are they holding his passport?
A scapegoat is needed and a gringo scapegoat is preferable for DR media purposes. Guilty by association. As one DR judge said to an innocent gringo, the accident wouldn’t have happened if you weren’t there. I’d like to see an investigation update by the FBI. That would have some credibility.

This is getting out on the spectrum. Considering the excellent diplomatic relationship with the US, I seriously doubt they would go the scapegoat route Eco. Now, perhaps with a Canadian, French or German, yes 🤣

It’s precisely because the DR has a good relationship with the US he could end up a scapegoat. Her father is affluent and connected. His daughter was an achiever academically. A poster girl so to speak. No mention of Ribbi’s family connections or his academic ability. I’m guessing certainly not as high profile or influential as hers.

The conviction of an American citizen, as bad as that would be, would placate US interests, and serve DR tourism and Justice interests much better than no resolution which could lead to a lingering suspicion that maybe a DR local was responsible. No resolution and Ribbi walking free will give DR tourism, the PN, and the justice department a permanent black eye. He will probably walk free anyway if her body is not found and probably cash in on his notoriety back in the US. The truth will come out eventually. Just not the way we expect it to. Speculation on my part Hijo but in the DR, as your well aware, stranger things have happened.

You're like a Canadian Larry Kudlow! Seriously though, it's tough to disagree with you.

I you believe the Drowning Scenario , they yes she should have been found by now .. So in Fact you are dodging the question of WHY has she not been found yet,.
Because she ain't in the water. They're soon going to start excavating sand. Besides this, if they place a medida de coerción on this kid, it won't be long before a full confession. If they don't place the order in the kid, it's going to be over and everyone will be going home.

I have a question that I don't think has been asked before. Does the resort allow media to enter the property?

I read somewhere else , someone had a Very similar theory which is very Plausible .
His premise was what the HERO story about saving her was just him trying to save Face , and was total BS.
What if he DID TRY to rescue her , but she went down, and he could not locate her .. He eventually made it to shore, but she did not , and he was grief stricken and did not know what to do next .
Instead of going for Help , he just passes out , when he came to he already knew her fate so no reason to look for her , this is why he did not report it because he figured they would figure it out, and then also ask him why he waited so long to report it .
As a Lifeguard perhaps he felt a lot of Guilt not being able to save her .
It IS possible .
Problem is he told that BS story about Saving her and she just disappears into the night after ? ? . so now he has a Delema,
Does he now admit the truth, or is he going to stick with it and just wait for the body to be recovered, Knowing he did not do anything to her other than not being able to save her .

I am intrigued by this story for sure. Reading the big media outlets news and the trailing comments, very few are supportive of his account.

Not at all, and I never said I believed in the drowning scenario. I said I believe her body is in the ocean.

I did notice that in most of the comments on Dominican media posts. In fact, it is overwhelmingly clear which side of this deal they are on.

I also saw some comments by Francisco Javier that they do not intend to discard this case as is, as it would be a "smear on the reputation of the Dominican Republic and its tourism industry".

That said, it does not behoove the administration to label it a drowning and no body, case closed. There is far too much toothpaste out of the tube. A pickle can't become a cucumber. Too much negative impact like why would one of the biggest AI strips in the entire world be built upon mostly unswimmable waters? Why would the hotel not close the beach off if indeed. Flags and "hey swim at your own risk" is not a strategy in any company's marketing plan that I know of.

They need to pursue this diplomatically but also vigorously, ethically and in an overarchingly competent fashion. And if that means putting a medida de coerción on your only person of interest, you bet your bottom dollar.

I've said repeatedly, Riibe is not going anywhere anytime soon. The DR absolutely has to do an exhaustive investigation on this. They held the Pivot Airlines crew under house arrest for 8 months, not only with zero circumstantial evidence, but also with videos of the drugs being loaded on the planes hours before the crew even arrived at the airport.

I've read that on a couple of sites now. Some folks think you can dig a substantial hole in the sand quickly. I'm not convinced yet.

Are there cadaver dogs in the DR? If so, and if used, I would think the "hole in the sand" theory would either quickly be eliminated or she would be found. I can't imagine that hole being very deep...is it feasible to use something similar to a metal detector (can't think of a better description but I know the tools exist) to detect abnormalities below the sand surface? That too could speed the process, rather than excavating randomly

Yes, that’s how they found Matilda/Lindsay de Feliz after she was murdered.

I agree.no matter how this turns out it's going to be a black eye for Dr cuz I believe the people know the government would anything to protect the Tourist industry.
