I guess you and all the others missed this distinction: he stated he was a lifeguard for a swimming pool...I can't imagine there were ever red flags there. ASnd, I'd guess (not sure) the lifeguard skills required for that job differ from those needed to get a lifeguard job at a beach. For one, the distance needed to swim during a rescue would be less, I would think.

jd, you really need to calm down before you have a stroke. There’s no law against being a dumb kid, you might have been one many decades ago.

And there’s a big difference between being a lifeguard in the Midwest and a lifeguard at the Jersey Shore.

Take a break and catch your breath, and clean up your language while you’re on vacation.

Honestly, if many of us look back on things we did in our youth it would be shocking. Lifeguard for the community pool (?) is quite a bit different than the ocean.
