Hi all

i cant wait to get married and am not put off at all. I willbe sure to post pics and reviews when i get back (altho not til may boo hoo).

I have to start the paperwork on 5th feb (not looking forward to that ad not cheap either)

I have got to say first choice are excellent - I spoke to them today and thay are going to get in touch with the hotel to get an update on things. Plus when we booked in june the delux rooms were fully booked up (upset). As part of the Wedding package we are entitled to a free room upgrade (subject to availability) but I already know there will be none available but they have said that I should most definitely still have access to those rooms extra perks like the pool so feeling really happy at the moment as that was the only thing that has let me down (the delux rooms being fully booked so not having some privacy- come on its my honeymoon).

Well more people have booked onto the wedding party today so now there is 26 of us cant wait

yippee

(kids club info would still be great - sorry to keep asking)

I am also and addict. One month from today we will be airborne, and by this time nearly half way there. We were starting to get worried , but with all the positive feedback in the last while, I know we are going to have a great time.

I to am an addict. :squareeye I have been refreshing this site so often these last couple weeks, im surprised my F5 key isn't broken. Thank you very much Planner (and everyone who has posted reviews)!!!
My wife and I and 2 good friends of ours will be arriving on Feb. 15 and staying for 2 weeks. Anyone from the prairies going down the same time?

To dance or not to dance?

hi there, im 17 :) and im heading to HVGB in a month with my family...
and i was wondering,
while im at the HVGB do you think i'll be able to go to the disco at all in the evening? i know earlier posts said i wouldnt, but have i been excited for the disco/bar , because i love dancing.. but i guess im too young?
other friends who have vacationed in the DR had no problems going dancing in the evening at their resorts , and hopefully i wont either.
i know im a bit young lol! but i was just wondering what others saw while there..
Its just a bit dissapointing too in the earlier posts to for people to say that the 16-18 crowd would be bored while there. But a vacation is what you make it right?

Get your money before you go. Even an interac in the States often does not work the same as ours.

If you are referrimg to an ATM. there are at least three located in the Plaza. It is a shopping center located within the Playa Dorada complex, about a five minute walk from your hotel.

Hi Grogan
Sorry to hear you cannot upgrade to delux - especially for your Wedding - what a shame!! Hope its nothing to do with to do with our party; we are leaving on 1st April, there are 36 of us and quite a few have upgraded. Sorry!. What day are you getting married do you know yet? My friend posted the other day Iojames, she is getting married around the 8th April I think.

I must say this site is fab, both for the reviews of the people who have been but to get to feel you know some of the other people who will be there when you get there is great! - Not that I should worry with 35 others in our group, lol, but its nice to meet new people isnt it! :) I've only been visiting the site a few days and I think I am hooked.

I will be takng my 11 year old daughter, hope there is plenty to keep her occupied, its a tricky age - basically she thinks the's 16!

Hello Howmar and thanks for the quick reply on ATM machines in the Plaza ...

Can you tell me something, will the machine spew out US $ or Dominican Pesos?

(I sort of fell dumb asking this, but hey!, what the heck!)

We are almost at 100 pages :) I can't beleive that.

Notice how there are fewer and fewer complaints like in the first 50 pages :)

Maybe Signature and First Choice has read this thread and are taking the approprite (sp?) action.

Haven't heard of too many people complaining about the brouchure (although I have been getting PM's about it. Nice thing is: My issue took 3 weeks to resolve and some of the others that were in the same boat as me got it completed in a few hours. Signature must realize the screw up now. Good on them for not making people wait to get answers.

A little over a week to go.

As I have been pretty active on this thread (more like a pain in the a$$) I promise everyone that you will have pictures of everything you request. I will do my best.

So who is leaving from Toronto on the 18th?

BTW - What books are people bringing along? I haven't found one I am eager to read with exception to State Of Fear from Michael Criton (sp?) Any suggestions would be helpful. I enjoy prison escape books, bank heists, Dan Brown stuff, James Peterson.
Help me with a book....... :) Preferably (sp?) grr. Not something brand new, as I would like to get it from the library and not have to be #600 in line to get it.

Thanks.

Ottawa Senators.

i am sure that someone has covered this already, but as a teacher i am well aware of the value placed on educational equipment in countries less fortunate than my own. on my last visit to bavaro i took lots of pens, pencils etc and gave them to the rep to hand out on my behalf. i would like to do similar this year whilst at HVGS. i would also if possible like to visit a local school and am not sure if this will be hindered by the fact we are coming end of july. ( working in a school like mine it would be great to see kids who enjoy the chance of being educated!)
if anyone has advice or ideas please leave me a message either here or private . many thanks .

Hi angie

Planner who is the GOD of this thread is keen for school supplies and she is willing to meet up with people in hotel and she will deliver school supplies. Dont quote me on this but I am sure Planner said that the schools did not like to be interupted.

Hi Nerak dont worry your party is not the problem i do not leave until the 30th April.

I am still in shock tho that the rooms were booked up so early as I booked in June and the resort didnt even open until december. Never Mind. First Choice have got me on reserve or something like that in case a room comes up.

I think this has been mentioned before but Outback Safari gives some of their proceeds to local schools, you even get to visit one on the tour. They also have a list of items you can bring down and give to one of the tour guides (even if you are not planning on going on the tour). Planner also mentioned what items could be brought a few pages back, she also mentioned 10$US will purchase a blackboard. Not sure who we give that to though.

thanks for that grogan, i can understand them not wanting to be disturbed, i know how i feel when we get strangers in the classroom. ah well, i know whatever i take will be of use so thats the important thing i guess.

thanks to you too Tiawa, i will look at the outback sight. we definitely plan to do the tour this time so will take extra along with me. i am hoping first choice will agree to some extra free cargo on the plane as i have an OHP i no longer use in my classroom that they could maybe use as well as many other things staff want me to take for them! money is always popular as well as they can buy what they truly need i guess.
thanks again . angie
