Great pics!! Does anyone have pics of the "family" room? We are leaving for DR in March, I am certain things will be even better by then.

Some of you sound like you are vacationing in a "rich" country. As was mentioned before...this is considered an underdeveloped country...give them a chance to get things up and running before we start complaining about everything!!!

Don't worry by happy...and have another cerveza!!!

still here at the HV

Hi all, day 4 and looking good, no vommitting to be seen. Kids having a ball. Let's everyone stop whinging and start looking forward to a great holiday.

For all those looking to the past and the Old Jack Tar - forget it it's gone the hotel is now owned by First Choice and for the most has been designated as a family resort.

Look forward not back.

Hello to all...

I'm a computer spaz and cannot open the pictures! Can some one tell me how? I just get to the photobucket main page.
My husband and I and two kids aged 11 and 9 leave for HV Jan. 17 from Toronto. We have be reading the posts regularly! Thanks to everyone for all the info!

Can you tell me why I can't view the pictures? The other pictures looked great! There did not seam to be too may people around. That is a good thing.

Before you quote me let's make one thing clear....i have not told anyone NOT to go...However i have said prepare for dissapointments...There is a huge difference....

These threads are for sharing opinions...Having been to the hotel and spending 14 days there i feel able to give an honest "opinion"...

I agree with what Planner said....the resort is fully booked but not ready...I know that is the case!!
I raise this question......so why before i travelled when i contacted them was i told "yes..everything is up and running"...yet when i talked with the rep on site was i told "no we are still having problems ESPECIALLY with plumbing...? why was i not told before i travelled?

I have spent many years in "undeveloped countries"...this is the first time i have experienced sewage NOT mine or my families...flooding my room! and i think that i do need to point out that the plumbing problem was not an over flowing toilet...it was water containing sewage pushing the base of the toilet up off it's hinges!not overflowing-backing up!!

As i said in an earlier post i am willing to help with pros and cons....

pro's
1. if you have young children in your party aged 3-7 they will be entertained
2.the water slide and wave pool are good -wave pool is the first i have seen in the places i have travelled to in the Caribean....
3.The entertainers work hard for the children and the kids clubs run daily offering a kids club which runs through the day and night (offering parents a chance to unwind without the children...Children have to be signed in the club and signed out (Peace of mind knowing where your children are)....
4. most staff (not so much the cleaners) speak fluent English...

Hi Cbear,

Our son is 11 and our daughter is 9. We are also going with my sister and her husband, and their sons 16 and 12. We have booked in the family room...(hopefully we get it!)

We are flying out on Jan 18, not the 17th (oops) and returning on Feb 1,..... I think it is the same flight out as OttawaSens....

Ps OttawaSens... your pick of the Boob pool was on page 7....look carefully...:)
