even in a chacabana and front plated grandpa pants you will still stick out like a pickled onion atop peanut butter brownie. wear whatever you'd wear back home in the summer.
miesposo is dominican and he used all things mentioned here as a no-no: for work he needs damn military style cat/timberland sheos, long pants and a shirt. on weekends he happily wears shorts and flip flops. but he is 32 years old, no need to him to dress like old farts. not that old farts here dress up, mind you, especially gringos. one of our neighbours lives in what seems to be a single pair of blue speedos. trust me, it will not bother you unless, like myself, you will find yourself accepting a short ride on his moto and have your crotch dangerously close to flabby wrinkled arse loosely clad in - rather loose - blue lycra.

What is that, lol. Is that a genuine advertisement or what? I'm a bit confuzzled.

More to the point, what on earth are they doing to that guys penis in the other clip afterwards? Having a contraption removed, wtf?

If you are from Iceland, there is almost no chance you would ever really blend in, so where what makes you feel comfortable. For example, could this be your family?

Pollito,

I have neither time nor intention to go back to your Dominicans belittling and criticism posts.

In an effort to move on to better topics, I would like to ask for your forgiveness for us (Dominicans) not being a "master race"

I thought the pure blood mentality was dealt with and resolved a long time ago.

Oops, ignorant Dominican is wrong again..

nas, that is a disgraceful response to the observations of pollogringo, a gentleman who is very circumspect about his posts, and measures them well, in order to avoid insulting people. i realize that he is a grown man, who can fight his own battles, but oftentimes people are motivated to respond to injustice. as an aside, why are you so offended by the assertion that Dominicans are largely about appearances? if there is no kernel of truth to it, then kindly explain to me why there are so many Dominicans walking around with spiffy brief cases, with nary a spider inside them?

Back on subject. It is a custom for a Dominican to share his food. If you sit at a park bench and a guy has an orange he will force half on you. Do the same it makes for nice company. If you live in a smaller town your neighbors will feed you. Return the plates clean.
There is nothing wrong with sitting anywhere and bullshttng with the fellas. Just dont whistle at the super young chicas. Even though you will fit in its kinda perverted.
I think you will fit in very well the DR reminds me of a smaller Brazil without a good economy. And less gangsters.

This does seem to be the problem for us who like petite women. I end up shopping with her in the kids section, having 14 and 15 year olds girls nickers held up to me and asked for my opinion, believe me, this is doesn't give off a good impression and is a little uncomfortable to say the least:ermm:

Ha, ha. I have numerous nieces and many are size zero/one and they love to try to embarass me when shopping. Hows this look Uncle Bob. I have shopped with my wife and her teenaged cousins for undergarments and never had anyone give me a dirty look nor did I feel uncomfortable.

Actually most wear long sleeves and slacks for protection from the sun and insects.

I don't think Dominicans need to protect themselves from insects in the DR.I have yet to see mosquitos attack
them. They seem to know if you're a newcomer. As soon as I sit in front of my house, they attack me in a feeding
frenzy!:hurt:

to the OP- your idea of trying to bled in is very helpful and valid in the DR. Keep using your common sense. Its simple- wear long pants, decent shirts, whatever your taste may be. The path of least resistance is always much easier than swimming up stream. Ya. K

I'm sitting here in Punta Cana and sharing some of the wonderful insight on DR1 with my son, (adult).

His words of wisdom are: "You can't help looking like a tourist, just don't look like a STUPID tourist."

words to live by.
