the Days of Thunder, or singing in the Rain.
90L did not improve any on Development, but is over theb AQntilles right now producing strong Rains and winds over 20 Knots.
the Tracking of the Wave been during the last hours straight West, it will get a Drift to W-WNW once passed over the Islands on the East, so the further Path will be along the south of PR and Hispaniola towards S-Cuba/Yucatan.

here on the east we had hours of Thunder and Lightning last night with a share of Rain, here in cabeza de Toro the last sweep stopped 5 minutes ago, Rain been plentiful and Wind been nasty Gusts while the Thunder was over us, but then it cut down to Zero Wind right away.

there is more on our East/over the Channel/around PR to come, so drive carefully on the Wet Roads and stay away from the well known flooding Dangerzones this weekend.

Yes, while it rains the Temps felt perfectly fresh,
but it changes quickly here on the Sealevel.
around 25 minutes ago I watched a Dark Thunder Area to my half right passing by, the Palmleafes down there been quiet under some strong Gusts, while at the same Moment, sitting on the Veranda, I felt the Heat of the Sun in my Back which came through the Clouds on the other side.
the Radar on the East shows much more Rain approaching, but most of it will not be for Punta Cana, the Mainload will hit a bit further North of lil Fishermen's Town Cabeza de Toro.

the Tropical Wave 90L will def have it's Influence on our Island's weather for the weekend and early into next week, but by the actual Tracking and Outlook it will not wander straight over our Mountains, it will avoid them and take the Easier Path along Our Southshores, but it will bring some Rain.

cheers on the Santiago Mountains

Mike , I know your efforts take time and just want you to know I appreciate them, I am a weather watcher myself however, not as well versed as you. Keep up the good work . Btw, could you throw in some temperatures and humidity on occasion ? I'm also trying to gauge my ability to withstand the RD heat. lol

5:35PMCabeza de Toro/Punta Cana, Thunder near off the Coast been heard,
since 5:45PM we are under Lightnings and hefty Rain,
wind is gusting far over 20mphr,
the Radar Loop NWS radar image loop of Long Range Reflectivity from Puerto Rico/Virgin Islands
shows that there is much much more to come for tonight and tomorrow,
forget about the Beach Weekends,
as I forget about Fishing, lol.

a weekend for the Family Indoors with some good Wine and plenty of Time to prepare some good Food.

thanks Chuck,
Yes, it takes Time, and as I do the weather watch anyways to be assured by own first hand notice due my own Business(all My Money is Floating on the Ocean in front of the Door) I don't mind to share.

how's the rest of the Island doing at the Moment?

I await that we will get hefty Rains and Thunders everywhere one Time or an other during this weekend.

to give an Idea about the heftiness of the Waterloads coming down here:
I sit on the Veranda less than 30 Meters from the Beach, of course I usually have a clear nice View on the Ocean, right now no chance to see the Ocean's Water.

now even the Internet get's shaky here, lol, darn Claro.

if You use Google Earth You get actually quiet a good Idea of the Size,
reaching from it's SE'ern Point around Martinique to it's NW'ern Point over the SE'ern Bahamas,
it includes the complete Northern Caribbean Islands plus some Dozens of the SE'ern Ones.

luckily there is no chance to gain real Storm Powers, but I guess the Water will be in some vulnerable Areas enough for lil Trouble.

the Result for the Highway:
90L moistured most of the nice protecting Dry saharn Air out there on the Highway,
which at the moment provides a quiet perfect Plattform for what ever lil Tropical Wave to come up there hitting a bit of cooler Air, to start Things which fill the Screens.

interesting early Season that 2011 so far.

Rain (sometimes heavy; sometimes drizzly) with a wonderful breeze in Juan Dolio. Just now hearing thunder.
We were at Las Americas airport about 1PM...they got quite the rain storm and a very impressive lightening show. Rain was almost coming sideways...

ha ha
we had here an other burst of Rain but now it is all quiet, rained a lot from the Virgins til Haiti and it moves quick, should be over soon.
right now it is beautiful out here, fresh Air, no wind, no rain and the Ocean calmed down a lot in the Rain.

90L does still not look as anything coiuld brew out of it, just a weekend without Sunburns.

cheers to the Carolinas

as quick as it approached, that same fast it passed.
we had in Cabeza de Toro the last Rain in the wee hours, sunny and dry since then.
by 8:30AM today we run 28C with 78% Hum., both will rise more during today on their usual Level.
Wind here been extremely calm early morning, just a few mphr out of the SE, the usual shift when a System with a light Circulation has Influence on a Area, no we are on around 10-12mphr, usual for the Arae and Time of the Year.

no more significant Rainloads out of our East to await, the Channel looks mostly clear for the next hours, if some water comes down it will be at very isolated Areas and just some sprinkling, no more real Rain for the East.

90L is as a Tropical Wave with Circulation at the Moment disappeared, Rainload and Winds on it's NW'ern Portion(where all the Water and Thunderstorms been located) are just some not-dangerous left-overs.

the System at All is not Dead, just as expected the first touch with the Mountains of Puerto Rico and then the always extremely Rough Terrain of Hispaniola/DR knocked it down, but it is still existing and wandering fast towards the W-WNW.
the Cloudy/Windy Areas should run over the South Bahamas and Cuba, the Center should run south of the Islands towards Yucatan/Gulf of Mexico. close proximity to high Mountains of Hispaniola and Cuba will not allow the needed Time over hot Waters to develop into a Storm. if it survives the bypass, most likely it will, we will watch it again once it reached the Gulf of Mexico, where the SST's are top Hot and the Windshear on the Model's long range forecast will stay very low, so over the Gulf a quick comeback reaching finally Stormstrength is possible, but nothing of any Danger for Hispaniola and the early on Development predicted Path towards Florida is highly unlikely, it would need to turn off the actual Tracking of the last Days completely.

the Models do actually not predict anything to come up around our again Sunny Isle, so we should be calm and fine for the next Days.

enjoy a hopefully Sunny Sunday

I have actually a 1998 Blackfin 29ft Flybridge named "Gladiator" and a 84 Silverton 37ft.
end October will my best Boat arrive at the Cap Cap Cana Marina,
a 1994 Blackfin 38ft Flybridge named "Predator".
I Captain on my own the last Years only on Billfish Charters, the long lasting white Marlin Season is the Top Dog for Punta Cana, we get the Biests on Shimano TLD's 25's and 30's 2 Speeds.
for August I will run 6 of the 10hrs Blue Marlin Charters, the Rest I leave to the Boys.
while Fishing and Boats always been the Passion, now that I have a Baby Girl in the House the Priorities to spend Time on changed drastically, and in a Nice Way, ha ha.
hopefully one day it will change Back,
in around 15 years I would like to see the first Female Captain to be in Charge of the Fleet's Tournament Boat on one of our Intl Tourneys here, would be a good Reason to Retire, lol.

Our Day here on the East went smooth today, til after Noon it been full sunny from early morning on, wind around12mphr, going down and coming back up in cycles, since around 1hr we have also some clouds around, so the Air feels much fresher, Humidity is not High, very comfy today.

nothing bad in Vicinity

and here we see how quick mit can change in the Tropics.

a few minutes ago the Wind started to Gust over 15mphr, shortly afterwards first Thunder been heard and right now I have the Thunder and heavy Lightnings right over my Head, it came in from the S-SE, Wind Gusts topped a few Times on 25mphr, Rain is on heavy, but while typing this the wind went down again, just a few Bursts once in a while, the Rain also will not be on for long, the Water on the Radar moves quick, I would estimate 15-20 minutes and it should be over, looks dry for some hours afterwards.

Well, that's not what we had here in Sosua/Cabarete. A bit of sun this morning but soon very clouded, whole day on and off rain and thunder, sometimes with a good blow of wind, sometimes drizzling and sometimes flooding rain. And fairly cool air and I don't have a fire place so have put on a sweater :)

Juan Dolio~ Sunshine and blue skies this morning for a while. By noon clouding up and grey. Pretty heavy rain this afternoon, with some strong winds. Then just grey and spitting rain for a while. Just as I started to type this...the rain has really picked up and I hear thunder...
