Hang in there Mike.
As usual you are doing a great job.
Sincerely appreciate all efforts.
Looks like a early am tropical storm for Luperon.
Am I correct?

when is the fun supposed to start here in puerto plata area?

From now onward, the frequency & intensity of the rain will only increase. Wind will pick up to whatever maximum strength will be achieve as well. Without having studied the latest track and factoring the new turn, the estimate was that Maria would be near Sosua Thursday noon to early afternoon. If the storm speeds up or slows down the arrival time for closest approach will change. Sosua is sort of close to you so add an hour or so.

Expect conditions to get steadily worse from now on.

sorry for being dumber than a rock but can someone fill me in when is the fun supposed to start here in puerto plata area? i have a person with mobility issues and a slight dementia to look after and i need to know when to expect the hit so i make sure she is all set. i may need to get out to check on her tomorrow morning and then again later in the day and don't want my head blown off by the wind, being a bit empty at the moment.

No big problems ... your patient will be fine as I read things,
Same or less than last time.....more rain perhaps...... tho(hahaha)

When it hits Sosua the winds will be less than 25 mph.

Have you seen the current and updated wind data records at the weather station at Punta Cana airport PUJ?

Sustained wind picked up to about 23mph and gusts to 42mph.

Over in Sosua there is a weather station at the a helipad and of course at POP. Always good to see what the official weather stations at airports record using anemometer telemetry. It is accurate because pilots need it.

I am in Punta Cana. Winds have picked up, but no where near Hurricane Force. Also looks like thunder is on the way here.

When the storm goes through Sosua it will be too far offshore to sustain major winds.
