Here is Sosoua, everything is actually very calm now. A little bit of rain earlier, but nothing now. No real wind either. The palms and other foliage are perfectly still ahora.
Can't give enough kudos to Mr. Fisher. Not just now, but over quite a bit of time his forecasts and common sense advice has been mucho mas mejor than any other source. But now, I hope you get some well deserved uninterrupted rest mi amigo. We took a ride around town earlier. Almost everything in "el centro" (Pedro Clisante strip) had closed. Some businesses also had plywood on the windows, and sandbags on the sidewalk. (Probably a leftover "battle drill" from Irma). Good precautions though.
Heading down Alejo Martinez towards the (closed) casino, we were surprised to see the lights of Dulce Secreto still illuminated (if anything is gonna stay open, it's a cabana, right?). So with no spoken words, (just a few discrete smiles) we pulled in and found the place completely full (no surprise) except for #10, "El Presidente". Bingo!
Almost as soon as we entered the room, the phone rang asking what we would like to,drink. The bottle of Brugal, refresco, limon, and heilo arrived while we were filling up the jacuzzi.
But just as we were settling in to the very warm water (with dos Cuba libres in hand), the phone rang again.
"Lo Siento, pero cerrado en quince minutos porque un cyclone." (Sorry, but we are closing in 15 minutes because of the hurricaine).
Talk about deflating my weather balloon!
That was a true , real time story. Now back to our regularly scheduled weather reports. (Again, much appreciated!).
