Glad to hear the dr1 participants are ok. We are all quite fortunate.
Unless you are really good at a crystal ball or have a direct line to mother nature ; plan for the best and expect the worse.
It is a way of life. My Son had a saying ''when you least expect it ,expect it''.

I think the key here is keep up preparations for future storms and earthquakes. Make it a part of your plans to live in Paradise.

As the wind is now shifting more out of the west I can better see the Atlantic Ocean coming in and hitting the 20' coral cliff 60 meters from my window and all that she has to offer in my vista.

Absolutely jaw dropping and mesmerizing. Seeing film is one thing. Seeing, hearing and right out your back door is seeing the power of the ocean and nature first hand. It's hard to describe the terror and beauty at the same time.

Wind and rain calming. Ocean not.

SD bad now. Dark. Lots of rain, dark and occasional thunder and lightning.

The parking lot of our building is flooded due to drainage problems at our corner. Had to remove the car and wading back to the house. Water was almost up to my hips.

Whos Maria?
I wanna see the power guys hitting town to get the light on. It gets dark here already since 30 minutes. 2hrs to early. So i guess we will get wet again very soon. Sky is dark black clouds. Wind it strong with heavy gusts while it was very quiet til 1 hr ago.
Gimme light and a movie.
I am bored.

They came out only for YOU?

Not really, I am communicating that I and the rest of my community have service restored, not making a statement that everyone has service as I have no idea if that is the case. Offering hope to those who are currently without - some issues are being resolved despite the conditions.

4:30 am I started filling in.....

hahaha

actually I posted that once before but it got 'erased' by some humorless higher-up

I did all my RD to Maria distances and NOAA report comparisons... a math class of sorts

Remember- if the center is 40 miles wide.... just use 1/2 of it when looking to get a measurement to the eye wall....

Winds are coming from the south now in RSJ, had to close my south shutters.  Still some big gusts, though, the dog won't go out.  And there's hardly any rain.  But you can tell she's leaving even if she's taking her own sweet time doing it.

We heard Santiago is flooded everywhere, and the dams are going to be let out. All living near rivers from Santiago to Monti Cristi are under a forced evacuation.

At least this time they got a warning.
