rice and beans,

That looks and sounds great to me!!!

Thank you.

I'll have to wait until September, when I travel back for my daughter's wedding, to actually enjoy such a feast, but I will keep that image in my thoughts until then.

I love the people of the DR.

I miss my dogs --- but they will be here in November and December.

All in all, living here is worth the sacrifice(s).

I like the more relaxed vibe I feel when I am in the D.R.

I miss Yorkshire Tea, Draught Guinness and urinating on JR's steps....

Are you guys from Bathgate??

I love:
The warm weather

I really miss:
Not having to worry about getting robbed/cheated every single day...
Clean streets
Not worrying about cockroaches in my kitchen

I love it here because I have the best job in the world.

I miss Heinz baked beans, crumpets and Ribena!

Heinz baked beans have arrived in the Capital - I buy them at La Cadena. Funny that you mentioned them since I do not remember loving them at home but when I saw them in the supermercado, I bought four cans and gobbled them up -- Anyway - do not know where you are but know that the beans are in the country at least . What is Ribena? You must be a Brit since we Yanks do not have "crumpets"--

Just one each please and I will kick it off....
I like the DR as it never feels chilly when I get out of the shower...
What I miss most from my life in the UK is my dishwasher!!!!
I have a dishwasher at home here in Us and only used twice in two years.
I think that is a waste of water and power when used to wash a few dishes and cups.

I like the volcanic rock walls .... simple, elegant, artistic.

Just had work done in No America by a 64 yr old man... excellent, but going the way of the DoDo bird.... RD keeps them coming.... craftsmanship, par excellence

Don't even think about the price comparison
40 cents a pound for solid limestone shale.... and i'm in the back country

aside of the relaxed Vibe I love here in the DR that the "Dishwashers" have sexier Leggs than the Models back home.
I miss the cold Season allowing to have some goodies like real apples, Strawberries, good wine etc in the own Garden.

Agreed MF,,

those of us who grew up with season changes get discombobulated if we don't experience the falling of leaves, the frosty roof.....not that I want to shovel snow...... but I enjoy watching somebody else do it ;)

Then, as quickly as I can, I return to the warmth.

The friendship of my beautiful amigas, whose beauty is much much more than skin deep.
