There was a bit of cloud cover this morning but it's about blown over now. Sun is shining brightly and I'm thanking my better half for having installed air conditioning! Without it I'm sure I'd have flown home by now as my poor damaged heart can't take this steamy heat!

I hear Dunhill is getting rained on just as he predicted (lucky boy!!) ;)

We really do need rain badly here to cool things down and refresh the earth!

In the meantime it's a great day for the beach! Think I'll go put my bathing suit on........

Two more reports to go then I'm on a plane back to the Great White North (which should be greening up soon!).

Hi MomC! Lake Nipissing is still frozen, with a little open water at N Bay.
Still snow on the ski hill, but it is sunny! Canadian Bob

A brief rain around midnight cleared some of the humidity

and lowered the temps slightly for a more comfortable "sleep" but I still had my air-conditioner set at 25C!:)

Partly overcast this morning with some clear patches as the day wears on.
It's back to being VERY humid and I'm thinking the temp is approaching the 38C it was yesterday! I'm sitting on my balconey enjoying the HOT breeze from the sea and sweating my head off!

I'm almost glad to be headed home! Thanks for the info from CanadianBob!
My 4 yr. old grandson told me on the phone this morning that the snow was all gone and the water dried up!:D ;)

No thanks needed Chris......when you first asked me to take the job I told you I'd be happy too but since I'm only here part of the year it made more sense for Dunhill to do it! Glad to be able to fill in while he's away!

It's another great beach day and judging by the traffic on the beach road the "city" folk are out in force!
Have a great weekend!!

My last weather report from Sunny Juan Dolio!

Dunhill should be back in a couple of days!
The breeze started blowing from the north overnight bringing cooler, drier air so temps were much nicer for sleeping!
I'ts very comfortable this morning as I try to finish up my packing and clearing out the fridge and cupboards for our departure.
There are some light cirrus clouds overhead with lots of sun shining through and a bank of strato-nimbus clouds off to sea in the direction of San Pedro.
Humidity is only about 60 % this morning and it's another glorious day in Juan Dolio.
Excellent for catching some rays on the beach or taking a long stroll this morning. It will probably heat up later on but at the moment it's heaven on earth!!
No rain and no sign of rain today so hopefully some showers will bless the dry earth soon!
The sea is calm for the first time in several weeks! Great day for diving, fishing or just a swim at the beach!
Take care, enjoy the island and have a great vacation if you're vacationing in the area!

Hi

Absolutely right

Rain and thunders in Las Galeras, everything the south needed was double there

Wet allover and not just normal wet.

on our way back we got "rained" near Majagual again

And we are back in the dusty Juan Dolio again.

We truly brought back some rain from the north

Now its cloudy and hot, some tiny rain periodes, and you are dry in second again (except from sweating)

MommC, hope to see you soon again in Juan Dolio, have a good trip.

I'd send you some of the rain from here if I could Dunhill!

Nice to be reminded so soon why I LOVE Juan Dolio!!!
No doubt by the time I post this the sun will be shining there again while here in the great white north (altho' with this rain it should be green in a day or two) it will most likely rain for a week straight!
Ahh well.............

And we got our rain !!

My house was flooded, but a lot of helpfull dominicans had it dry in no-time

Clouds are passing by, its still hot, but sometimes are the valves are open for half an hour whats enough to create some nice new undiscovered rivers

Sea water is perfect

Juan Dolio is sleeping, waiting for the (european) tourists to come
Weather is hot 30-36c in the daytime
20-26c at night
Together with a humidity between 50 (day) and 90 (night) even the Dominicans have problems with that

Some rain felt yesterday, but not enough to cool things down
SPM and BC got a better cut of the rain

The Hurricane season starts in 3 weeks, lets see what this year will bring us.

Seawater in JD is bright and clear, sometimes a bit too hot to be refreshing.

Hard at night, softly in the day

And we thought that the rain forgot us

Nohing special in Juan Dolio, everything is sleeping and waiting for the things to come

Came back today from a small trip:
Juan Dolio: some heavy rain at night, almost no rain in the daytaime
La Romana: call it "Lake Romana"
Guaymate: rain and sun

It is getting cooler, but till you can sweat while it is raining.
Sea is calm, and the rain is not cold, so you can still have fun on the beach

"on your command" :)

Blue sky
high humidity
someclouds in the afternoon and night, but the rain is not coming here but will put somewhere else
seawater is bright blue and hot
temperatures between 85-95f (HOT)
bring enough mosquito stuff , because they all have dinner at around 7-8 and some of them during the rest of the day/night as well
Juan dolio is quiet right now, but is a perfect starting point to go to other places.

Emily

She is gone , but Emily left her marks

Last night we had a nice lightshow on the beach of Juan Dolio, flashes all over the sky
We were sitting on an enormous amount of trees and other garbage Emily left on our beach.
The cleaning has to start again, we get used to it, i think.

Some die-hards (me too) try to battle with the waves and the forces of the sea, and we all found out, that under the sand are many rocks and that floating trees are very hard, but the water temperature was nice

Today hot and sunny again, some clouds, just back to normal.
But be careful if you go into the sea, it is still dangerous for a day or 2 at least

Yes, thats a bit difficult, when the weather is good, it is good for days, and writing everyday the same is boring
When the weather goes bad, than i am writing on the TDxx or main pages, and have no time to write in thee Juan Dolio report

And it is a little bit very busy lately etc etc etc excuses

Sunday Dec.18th 2005

Awoke this morning to cloudy skies and a light but steady rainfall.

The sun peeped through just as I was preparing morning coffee but now it's overcast with a steady drizzle.

I don't have a weather station or even a thermometer to tell you the temperature but it is a little cool......I'd say around 24C with a slight breeze.

Still beats the snow and cold back in Canada!

I'll try to post here often and maybe even find out from Dunhill where he gets his stats when he posts them so I can be more accurate for you while I'm here!

Thankfully Dunhill's wireless internet is available this year so I don't have to deal with Verizon and getting a new phone line again to access the 'net'.

Have a great Sunday everyone!
