But how often do you go to the US and use Medicare? I was just in the US visiting family and made an appointment with my sister's doctor for the Medicare annual wellness visit. I have never done this. I pretty much ignore all communication from Medicare because it's of no use to me living here. The US doctor told me it was a good thing I did the appointment because apparently if you don't (for a certain time or number, I don't know, didn't ask) Medicare will downgrade your plan for non-compliance. This is probably something I should look into. I am very happy with my ARS Universal insurance here. I live here and it is ultimately of much more importance to me than Medicare. Having said that, I am very grateful to have Medicare. One never knows......
I can't see me ever using medicare. I haven't been in USA for almost 14 years. I don't even have anywhere to go if I did travel there. So for me I don't need it.

Glad it worked out for you.

I am confused about the down grading of the Medicare plan. There is Part A (hospital), Part B (outpatient, doctor visit, etc..), Part C (Medicare Advantage/HMO replacement) and Part D (prescription). This is with straight Medicare. When you talk about down grading is it because you have Part C, Medicare replacement plan? I know there is a competency (things like drawing a clock, etc..) test that a physician is required to give Medicare patients at certain intervals. They report this back to Medicare. But this is the first I have heard about down grading a plan.

OK. I'm back with the Medicare questions. My friend in USA got the form that I need to fill out to opt out of Medicare. I will send her the answers to the form. She will fill it out and mail it in. The question is. Should I have her just sign my name or have her sign X for me and go for the 2 witnesses? It says "If this request has been signed by mark (X), two witnesses who know the applicant must sign below, giving their full addresses". I'm thinking probably the X since I am not in USA and will write that I plan not to return so the X might be best as my person in not in USA.

Just have her sign your name and leave it at that.
