I'd get therapy locally to get the fluid out of his lungs to buy some time until a flight is available.

Surely that's possible.

If he's really that sick the airlines may not even want to risk him on a long transatlantic flight.

Agreed.....

Fluid on lung was eliminated. He has pain but that is controlled with good programme.

I have no clue about the desease with the lungs itself,
IF a treatment for bettering of conditions is possible here, of course that should be done to gain Time, and in that Time the British Embassy should get the renewed passport back in emergency time, so the options of Flights to use would rise a lot because the Route Via Miami could be used, too.
but I have no clue about the medical part of that or what's possible here for the specific thing.

If I am banned on DR1 for life, I have to say this....I have really appealed in a moment of desperate need and had wonderful and tremendous response from both known and unknown friends on DR1 but also recieved advice from total arsoles who always know a better way that we should have lived her in the DR for the past 4+ years.

You are tooooooooo respected to be banned because you are stating your opinion.;)
Please, do us a favor, shout out the arsoles you are referring to. I bet these are sock puppets that have nothing better to do. I bet Robert and company would make sure something is done.

I wish I could make things better for you and Mr. WB.

Prayers in full effect.

Let me first clear one thing up, they are ARSEHOLES and I'm sure deserve the tag in some cases. Let me know if anyone needs deleting, I'll be happy to press the button.

It's the community that makes DR1 special and in these types of cases it shines, thank you!

Hopefully Mr. WB get's on a flight and the care he needs.

Good luck and I hope it all goes well!

Gentlemen ..........
May I respectfully suggest you stop 'GUESSING' at what WB & Charlie (plus a few others) have done with regard to Charlie's condition AND what involvement the British Embassy is doing/could do. For reasons I am not prepared to go into unless I have WB's agreement, the British Embassy is not able to expedite a fast return of the Passport being renewed - please leave it at that.

Charlie's health is being monitored by CMC at Sosua & I am hopeful he will remain there until it is determined whether a seat tomorrow is available or not. Then repeat performance on Sunday if no seat is found tomorrow.

Charlie was in for investigation, tests & treatment over a week before WB started looking for flights. ONE lung had filled up slightly & when it was determined by discussion with the medical team in Scotland that treated Charlie last year that it would be advisable for him to return, then the excess fluid was extracted. This will I am sure, be checked tomorrow or Sunday before Charlie leaves to board the flight JUST to make sure he is in a very strong position to have a fairly comfortable flight.

As Mike says WB, We wish you the vey best of luck tomorrow or Sunday in finding a seat or 'Pilot with ideas' that will ensure that by Monday morning Charlie is back with the team that treated him successfully last time. ~ Grahame.

WB, I have very deep contacts in the air ambulance community. If things get worse and your budget can afford it, I can see what can be arranged. Would take no more than 12-24 hours.

I wonder if you would be so kind as to start those investigations for us now CB. If a seat is not available by Sunday evening this might be the only option left for WB. Just how much would Medivac to Scotland cost?

As Robert has stated earlier, this is a caring forum & I am sure we could drum up a sizeable amount in pledges (should the worst come to the worst tomorrow night) & we could then offer WB this alternative! 50 people @ US$100 each gives us US $5,000 & then you & I can make up the difference :cheeky: :cheeky: ;)

It would be a good idea to see just how much this service would cost anyway for those who might find themselves in a similar predicament a few years down the line! ~ Grahame.

I have calls out to the owners of two air ambulance companies that used to be hangar and office tenants when I was in the aviation business. One is Air Ambulance by AirMD Air Ambulance Call 800-282-6878, I know Dr. Kreye well.

They will get back to ma as soon as they have numbers. I think I explained the situation well. They are looking for "deadhead" flight to save $$$.

As soon as I know I will PM the info to you, Grahame.

I know folks are concerned.

Woooooooohooooooo!!!

Wow! Wow! Wow! Mr WB is on his way! Despite a full flight and everyone checking in, the Captain of the flight to Manchester agreed to take an ex Royal Marine home for the treatment he so desperately needs. As you can imagine I am enormously happy and sad all at the same time.... totally relieved he is en route and very sad to see him go without me.

Thanks to everyone for their efforts for Mr WB but, in the end, it was beeza who made this happen and so, to him, I will be eternally grateful.

It was my pleasure Whirley!

That's when being a serviceman comes into it's own. When you serve your country you also join an exclusive club!

I am ex RAF, so was the Captain. There was no way we were going to leave one of our own behind!

That is terrific news; I am not at all surprised that Alex (Beeza) made that happen - he's a guy with a huge heart. I suggest that everyone gives him a little more credit to his CP score and shame on the person (can't be bothered to look who it was) who attacked him earlier on in the thread re aircraft types (yawn).

Good luck to Mr. WB with his treatments in the UK and a speedy return to the D.R.

Mr WB

I can't thank everybody enough who has posted with help and information on this site as I don't often post............

I had the pleasure (if you could call it that) to take Mr WB to the airport and I can only say that it was a huge relief to make sure that he got on the plane - a HUGE HUGE thank you to Alex - you are a marvellous person!

I will say a special prayer (and yes Charlie, you know what sort of prayer that will be!!!) for your speedy recovery and return to the place that you love and to your friends who love you

God speed xxx
