Downstairs and out back is this colmado located on a small riverbank. Each day beginning at 7am enter the drooping pants crowd on 100 dollar motorbikes with naked lady seat covers. The other wave is the 250-bag lambones unshaven and dirty t-shirts. They are clearly not sending their best, Ms Maria. The music of choice is Tokisha and Bad Bunny. Nothing sums up an "at one glance" judgement better than this crowd of savvy motivated professionals. Of course you judge by appearance and their collateral elements. On Wall Street don't they say "Dress for the job you want to have"??
LMAO "lambones", classic!

I listen to both artists.

This is not Wall Street.
Many people that experience conflict with immigration (or the PD for that matter) display a confrontational attitude. Instead of complying with a document request and saying, " of course officer, I understand." it turns into a machismo contest, we know who wins that every time.
And there can be overbearing, rude, and over aggressive members of law enforcement the world over.

None of that invalidates anything thing posters have presented about individuals they know that have encountered immigration or other members of law enforcement in the Dominican Republic. No matter how many time they want to write it.

I hear there was man kept in prison for 27 years.
Got out and became President of his Country.
I wonder if anyone looked at him busting rocks in jail and said: "Hey that guy is going to be President someday".
(insert the "I think because I am" emoji here)

You mean the job you'll never have?
Nightly rounds ups along with extortion have been standard police pratices in this country for well over a decade. How hard headed can a person be?

Some people are only color blind when it benefits them...
But the one color I've seen that is pretty much universal is "green".
That is the color of my money and a 500 DOP note.

I feel like you must be part of the seedy underbelly here to take these defensive postures.

You might be on to something.
I've been getting money with rich folks and hanging with
the poor since I was 15 years old.
You fired off at me first by saying ""Well paid professionals give me a break"
regarding the type of people my son does custom work for up in TX.
Construction Engineers, Lawyers, Air Traffic Controllers and Rockets Players just to name a few...
starting at $300 per hour so keep talking smart*ss.

You don't have to look far in order find examples where "dress for success" only applies to narrow minded people and wage slaves.
I suit up when I want to.

My pops taught me a long time ago...
people make money, money don't make people but it will make a person act like it does. I learned how to take advantage of the fools who think this at a very young age. Life is good.

It really does happen. I have not one but two dark skinned cedula carrying Dominicans that have been picked up and detained overnight multiple times. I also have a light skinned Haitian friend here illegally for 20 years that has never been detained. There is a well known restaurant owner here in Sosua whose dark skinned cedula carrying Dominican boyfriend has been picked up twice and detained overnight just in the last few months. It is ALL about skin color when they are patrolling the streets of Sosua,I can tell you that with certainty,I see it every day. When the PD is riding down Pedro Clisante and the side streets they are looking at skin color to determine who they are going to target, plain and simple.

Colorism is a big problem in this country. But it can't be fixed if it's never even acknowledged.

Makes me happy to be legal and white but it’s scary to think about the mentality in Sosua if this is correct

Isn't Sosua like the number one destination of African American male tourists in DR? Do they ever experience this color profiling while on vacation there?

Are you stating a fact?
Or
Asking a question?
Do they ever experience this color profiling while on vacation there?
If you are not sure then how can you focus on one single area?
As African American male tourists visit all over the Dominican Republic.
Is there only color profiling in Sosua?

You really want to proffer that Sosua is like the rest of the Dominican Republic?

Do African American females vacation in the Dominican Republic?
And wouldn't they experience the same color profiling while on vacation in the Dominican Republic as African American males?

I will wait for your reply...my enquiring mind is looking forward to reading it.

If anyone questions whether or not this is an interrogative, they just need to look at the question mark ending the sentence

Both sentences in fact

Until someone answers the first question in post #135 (which by the way has an implied statement of fact)...you cannot answer or even address the second question.

That is basic logic.

Continue to troll.
I don't mind.
