nevermind, just want to say that Dr. Rojas is very gentle and the prices seem very reasonable for the quality of work.

I also received a 10% discount for being a dr1 member.

So far experience has been great, haven't had any work done yet but the future seems great. He is extremely knowledgeable and unlike any other dentist I've met in the DR regarding professionalism and knowledge about procedures. My wife goes in tomorrow for the root canal section and Dr. Rojas ensures me it will be nothing like what we've had done with other dentists here regarding the pain and recovery period.

The reason the price on the coronas seem high is because they are made in a lab in Florida so I can assume they have all types of charges associated with importing those etc.

Dental Cibao Spa is first class, nothing but praises for them. I actually take a bus from Santo Domingo to go there and it is worth the two hour ride. You can take either Metro or Caribe and it is only a five minute walk to their office.

These people and this team is phenomenal - 1st class all the way. I am half way through the All-in-4 procedure whereby 4 implants are inserted and a permanent bridge is put in for my top teeth. I first had to get 7 out of 11 teeth extracted, a partial temporary plate put in and will go back in 6 months to get the other 4 taken out and a permanent bridge put in.

I did a lot of research and checked out the procedure where I live as well before deciding to see what they were about.

I went in last Wednesday and began the process that day. Saturday I took the bus from Puerto Plata to Metro Tours, walked up the hill to the right and there it is. I had a relaxing tea and began the process of first getting deep scraping and cleaning of the lower teeth to stop the periodontal infection and protect them longer. Dr. Rejes has small fingers and golden touch. She was very gentle and very patient and she and her assistants helped me relax as much as it is possible for me.

I'm afraid I was not the ideal patient as for some reason, I panicked about getting all this work done and my teeth taken out. They took their time with me, soothed me and even suggested they could postpone the work until I felt more sure of my decision. I opted to continue and Dr. Reyes took my teeth out while the doctor who prepared my plate then fitted it for me.

I could not believe how easily it went. I felt no pain during the extractions and they are not miserly when it comes to injecting more and more anesthetic until I felt nothing at all.

I was given a prescription for pain, antibiotics and a couple of other things and sent on my way until next Saturday.

I took the bus back to Puerto Plata and a taxi to Costambar and while I was very tired, was able to stop to pick up some ice cream.

Other than a little soreness where the hook for the plate is rubbing on the gum, I've been able to eat some semi-soft food such as chicken, rice, potatoes, and of course, ice cream and seem to be healing quite well.

Saturday I go for the titanium implants and to make sure the plate is fitting properly.

I cannot say enough good things about the professionalism, the empathy, the patience and the ambiance at this Clinic and would recommend it totally and unequivocally to anyone who needs work done at an excellent price.

I priced the main work in Canada before coming down and can assure you that even with the cost of the trips, the prices are excellent and well worth the aggravation of having to spend a couple of weeks in the sunshine along with getting the work done in a great atmosphere with a great team.

I was introduced to Dental Cibao by a friend that works with just about all the "better" dentists in the DR and he said Dental Cibao were in a completely different league, hence one of my reasons for initially using them.

Great to see some good reviews!

I am sure the price is much better than in the States or Canada. I opted to have it done in the States. I am having the same procedure. The difference is everything for the temporary appliances was done in one day. I had twice as many teeth pulled and the temporary teeth placed. I was under anesthesia and not local. 7 hours in the chair and done for the first round. I go back in about 2 months for the permanent teeth vs 6 months. To me it was worth the extra money paid. Also when you get back to Canada pick up a recharable hand held water pick. These are great for what you now have to clean in your mouth. Good luck.

In fairness to Dental Cibao, they likely would have done the whole thing in one day but my nerves got the best of me and my panic attack delayed them considerably. The original plan was to have it all done in one day but now I have to go back to get the implants put in on Saturday and check on the plate. I would have had to go back to check on the plate anyway and since I am here for another couple of weeks, they spread it out a bit.

I asked about anesthesia and they told me that results have shown that there is more risk, especially for the possibility of dry socket and it seems for healing generally. Not sure about that, but I trust them totally so just got local done.

Good advice on the WaterPik. I'll do that as soon as I return as I doubt a toothbrush will completely do the trick. Thanks for the tip.

Can't imagine finding a team anywhere near as good as these people. I went to them because of this thread and all the information I got regarding your work done as well as doing my own research and talking with them. So far, so good. Now, if I could only get my nerves in check.

When I went in they gave me some type of pill about 1/2 hour before to relax me. Like I said I was under anesthisia but not completely knocked out. I could still here them talking time to time. When you get the temporary appliances in it will seem kind of awkward. Give it time for you to get used to them. At first you will want to eat soup and anything soft. I eat a lot of WonTon soup. Rinse a few times a day with salt water. This will help the healing process. I am going back next week to see if the implants have fused with the bone. Can't wait for the permanent teeth which won't be as bulky and hopefully I can eat anything I want. That dental office in the DR sounds great and if I had know about it I might have considered it. I had to get 20 some teeth pulled and figured better to get it done in the states. The doctor I went to is in Annapolis Maryland and the thing I liked was he did all of the procedure himself under one roof. His staff is also great. Again good luck.

Good tips, LTSteve. Thanks!

Not really looking forward to getting the implants put in this Saturday, but they tell me the worst is over. The procedure has not been that painful but my anticipation has caused me the most problems. Need to get my nerves in check.

I already had a partial for a number of years so I'm not having trouble adjusting to the temporary one - just minor adjustments will make it perfect.

Considering going to the pharmacy to get a relaxant myself so I don't panic again.

Glad your procedure worked out alright.

I've been told that Asenjo does indeed work in Punta Cana but he will only perform limited work there as the "good" equipment and facility is in his Santiago Clinic

Just a little bump and a great big word of praise. Finished up my year and a half of visits to Dental Cibao today. I have one more visit for a final check up and that is it. I honestly do not have the proper words to describe how wonderful Dental Cibao is. I had the final finishing touches done today and it seemed like the staff was happier for me than I was.

Bottom line all my life I hated going to the dentist. Going to Dental Cibao was more like just spending a day to visit some friends. Don't get me wrong, I suffered some pain but when you talk some serious dental work you need to expect this.

My only problem now is I need to learn how to smile more often. (keep in mind I traveled from SD to Santiago for a year and a half to get my work done, now this ought to say something about how wonderful Dental Cibao is)

How would you say in Spanish, I am one happy camper.

and a small shout out to DR1 for finding out about this place

Great review, thanks.

Often people are focused on price and forget it's just one part of the total experience.

Their client list speaks volumes for the quality of the their work, so do your teeth and smile a favor, go see them, they are by far the best dental clinic in the Dominican Republic.

The dentist is not a good place to try and save money. Usually you will get what you pay for. Save money on a car not on your teeth. You are not getting another set unless its a plastic one.
