Not alone. There are many middle-older age families who will be willing to visit Sosua once the current cleanning of sex-tourism and mongers is successfully completed here. A proper and close cooperation with the respective US authorities would of help to Ilana and Willy. I speak to many expats and Dominicans. All share this point of view.

yes, they will visit once, and will they spend money there?

Cooperation with US authoritiies for what? Have you lost your mind ab000? Do you really think President Obama and his administration gives a fu** about the Mayor of Sosua and her hooker problem?:paranoid:

And Willy, lets not go there...and are you talking about the Dominicans that may come to Sosua on the weekend with their own food and drinks? And are you talking about the Expats that sit at a bar or cafe and drink a cup of coffee all day, and eat all of their meals at home?

There should be a little clean up of Sosua, and we will all know what the Obama administration plans to do about the Hookers in Sosua when he Addresses the nation tonight about the problem.

I highly respect your opinion. But all other economies in the World can survive and exist without New York sex-tourists and mongers. Why this country Dominican Republic cannot I wonder?!
When decent people see that Sosua is clean and free from sex tourists they will come to buy property and real estate will skyrocket. It will mean the true prosperity. Not the shame of today`s mongering.

Just my personal opinion. Not forced on anyone else.

Is their "stuff" also considered "legal" in their country of jurisdiction - USA?
And please refrain from obscenities.

Firstly, obscenities?
What obscenities - I just pointed put that your statement was idiotic.

Secondly - 'their stuff' may not be considered legal in their country but what has that got to do with anything?

Example - Smoking a joint can land you in the joint in the D.R.
If a Dominican travels to Amsterdam he is more than welcome to smoke a joint in certain places.

And i respect your opinion ab2000..But FYI, Sosua is not the only Destination for sex tourist, and is probably not even in the top 50 size wise.

And if you really think that property value is going to skyrocket in Sosua with a few less hookers, you are greatly mistaken..Sosua is not the french Riviera, and never will be..But again, a little clean up may be a good thing..But the problems in Sosua are much more then the hookers..

And I was just watching CNN, I think Obama is sending in the troops to help clean up Sosua...

Maybe you are right. I am not lawyer.
It is up to the US authorities to decide how they qualify this kind of behaviour of US citizens and residents here in DR. Not me. I am not an attorney.

But in drug and terrorism fight international cooperation is effective. Why not against prostitution and sex tourism as well? Sosua could set an example.

You are right, there are more problems here. But prostitution and US sex tourism is number one and to begin with. As due to mongers young girls from their very young years understand that it is not necessary to study and to work hard to live well. If one can sell her body to single American vacationaries. This moral damage is very hard to correct later.

If Obama really does it and keeps them here for at least 24 months - it will help greatly.

You mention in an earlier post that it is the opinion of ALL Dominicans and ex-pats you've spoken to....that is BS...and more than your personal opinion.

For the record, this country does just fine without sex tourism...better than any other Caribbean country in fact, but the majority of that tourism is in Punta Cana and La Romana where the weather, water, resorts, and beaches are much nicer (to most people, Dominicans included). Why you and others insist that Sosua will suddenly become an attractive alternative to other areas of the DR and elsewhere once you get ride of the hookers and loud music is beyond me. I live and own property in Cabarete so I am all for doing whatever it takes to weather the current worldwide economic downturn and raise Real Estate prices in this area, but these current measures are absolutely not the answer...

...and furthermore...why do you keep referring to "New-York sex tourists" you really think all the single men in Sosua are from New York??

...and finally, and far as you statement about "all other economies in the world" surviving without sex tourism...have you ever heard of Thailand, The Phillipines, Brazil, Costa Rica, Colombia, Curacao, Amsterdam, et al? Sosua and the DR are far from the only "economies" that have legal prostitution...

You are valid too. But those guys are allowed to have unlimited and cheap sex in their respective countries so for the purpose of sex tourism and prostitution in Sosua they are not an issue.

Unlimited and cheap sex in those countries???

Holy crap - I have never heard of a place where the amount of sex was limited by legislation.
I can imagine -
"Excuse me sir, is that the third or fourth knee-trembler you have had today?"
"Tis but the second, officer!"
"Well if you don't mind me saying, you look a little glassy eyed. If you wouldn't mind blowing into this bag, sir......?"

And cheap?
You are very wrong of course but even if you were right, what would the price of sex have to do with this discussion?

Countries do not work like that anyway.
The relevant jurisdiction is the jurisdiction where you are now.
Unless there has been special legislation passed - like the child sex tourist legislation - you can freely do as the Romans do.

How long have you lived in Sosua, anyway?

What are you smoking?

Prostitution is legal in 10 of Nevada's 17 counties. The individual States and NOT the Federal government legislate whether prostitution and gambling are permissible and where.

Nevada's Most Infamous Brothel, Mustang Ranch, Back In Business - Local News | News Articles | National News | US News - FOXNews.com

By your logic, if a Marylander buys a beer after midnight on Friday in the D.R. they should be arrested because they don't sell after midnight in his home State? God forbid a resident of Utah should bet a quarter in a Dominican slot machine! Oh my! Some Dominican is smoking a legal joint in Mississippi! We should call Leonel immediately and have him deported, tried and thrown in prison even though it's totally legal to smoke it there? Who died and left you in charge?

States That Have Decriminalized - NORML

You compare the importation of illegal drugs and international terrorism to the legal (in the D.R.) and perfectly natural agreement between a Man and Woman to do what comes naturally?

That's like comparing Murder and Armed Robbery to accepting charity.

If you think the Mayor of Sosua, Leonel Fernandez or anyone else is trying to outlaw P4P in the Dominican Republic then I can only assume that you are not right in the head.

Dominican Men wouldn't stand for it. Their P4P activities far outnumber those by "sex tourists". Hell, most tourists have no idea what a cabana is or what it's for. Next thing you know they'd be going after sexual harassment in the work place. Imagine that! There would be murders....
