Munoz, Puerto Plata -- Up the hill south of the Playa Bergantin project.
It's not the only project going in up that hill.
2 years ago stayed at a remote semi ecotourist place deep in Munoz, The area was just beginning to be developed. Went thru the area recently, very surprised at all the construction, not only there but also in the city of Puerto Plata, Long Beach area. Seems to me private investment, cause it surely it’s not the government. Was also in Cabarete last November, new hotel, and all types of residential construction . Gov abandoned the North Coast, a natural tourist attraction for Punta Cana, you can draw your own conclusions as to why(believe it started during the Leonel regime). Obviously Puerto Plata slowly making a comeback

The issue is that the comeback is not in tourism. That is still way down and very unlikely to ever recover. The dozens of projects are for either rich investors who are Dominican or Foreign, and a combination snowbirds or expats who live full time on the north coast.

Going inland from Route 5 as you did and you will see far more constuction than I am able to see only from the main road, just as you saw in Munoz.

I'll take financially well-off investors over tourists any day of the week.

And that is true up to a point.

Before all this new development there was in issue with so called potable water. That is DR code for undrinkable water supplied by CORAPPLATA where I live. We now get that water a few day each week and nothing is being done that will make that better over time and new development.

I have no idea how much a few thousand more condos and villas will tax incompetent Edenorte, but I am sure I will found out.

A nice box, er home, is available at upwind estates for $329,000 USD. just across from Kite Beach Cabarete.

Speaking of water, anyone purchased one of these new flat roofed beauties and seen what rain will do to the ceilings over a couple of years?

That house is probably less than 1000 square feet. House comes complete with slop pail and mop with the flat roof. What a deal!

$329k for that is insane.

A good maestro on a flat roof home will usually pour a slight incline for water run off.

Hard to see, but throw a glass of water on it and see where it goes.

Compare it to living in a 900 sf2 condo, those dont' seem that bad. They have their own beach and lagoon access.

How many units are selling with no beach access? When all the building ends, there won't be any access to kite beach and no parking.

My condo has a standard pitched roof over the units but a flat roof over the balconies. The flat roof is both slopped and tilted slightly that rain water will run to one corner where there is a drain line that goes to the cistern. It's barely noticeable. I was amazed.

There's water at the bottom of the ocean.

Travieso Cabarete finally stopped adding additional caliche rock and stopped with about 8 feet of fill over the original level
Yesterday they brought in block for the foundation. Get em while there hot starting in the $200Ks for the smallest apartment:

Price starting atUS$209,500
Bedrooms 1
Bathrooms 1
Square FT 893.41
Square MT 83

DELIVERY DATE: August 2025 and December 2025 (and the foundation is not even started)

Suddenly a stand along small house at $329 looks better, maybe?

Just next door to Travieso, Mareal Cabarete is adding caliche and rolling it down along La Cienaga road. Not sure if that is where the pool will go or maybe more condos.

Serenity 2BR

This villa offers 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, a private pool, and 162m² of space.
There are a couple of ways one can measure for space and it is common in the states to use one or the other to gain an advantage in selling. One way is "living " space. Where one could eat, sleep and "live". The other was is to include space such as unfinished attic, storage shed, pool patio, dog run garden.
From the looks of it,and the stated facts there are only two bedrooms, I would question their numbers. IMO

Casa Linda has announced to their owners that the Connections condo project is being severed from the main operation. Rumor has it that the remaining unsold pre-construction units will be marketed as part of a new Connections luxury condo hotel.

Being years late in delivery might have somthing to do with that. They could call it DisConnections.

Where did you see this announcement?
