The former Attorney General stated as much more than once. It is not a "belief", it is a fact that the government does not want sex tourists. Dominicans hate the image of the DR being a sex tourism location.

Just like I said, they (the government) will make small moves to make it appear they are cleaning up the town. All done with smoke and mirrors. I believe you have been in la rep dom longer than I, now there were hoes when you got here and there are still hoes here now.

it is a balancing act. the guys who want the Jet Blue guys gone have the upper hand, because they have the money to get the ears of the town officials, and they are not getting any pushback from the Jet Blue guys, who just roll in, and roll out. they are not going to fight the power. when they get squeezed sufficiently, they will bugger off to Bahia and Rio, and things will return to the old days.

Oh I can agree with that. Some BIG time investors step up to the plate and you won't see a puta within 25 kilometers of Pedro Clisante. At this moment I don't see that happening. Originally Amber Cove was going to initiate a cleanup. Turns out those cruise ship passengers aren't the least bit interested in a day trip to Sosua. Maybe this new port in PP may change things but i doubt it. For a cruiser a day trip to Cabarete kite boarding (or whatever it is they do) sounds more fun than walking the strip of Sosua.

Either way, next year this time ........... same ol', same ol'

the cruise port at Amber Cove was never going to have any meaningful effect on Sosua, because cruise ship passengers do not generally travel more than 7 miles from the ship. that distance is like the umbilical cord. they do not want to get into something like a car accident 15 miles from the ship, and take a risk of getting left by the vessel.

And I think I’m there longer than both of you combined. It’s always been there. Bordellos catering to Dominicans were there in the 70’s. Playa Palenque, our favorite beach, was a mini Boca Chica in the old days. Hookers everywhere. “Good” Dominicans avoided it like the plaque. Sound familiar? The government cleaned them out, swept it all away, and today it’s full of middle class Dominicans. And a rare American. Yes, some Europeans with their wintertime Dominican women, but they come together, no beach matchups. I think they mostly all live in a large residential that caters to older Euros.

So.....where did the hookers all go? Scattered around the south coast beaches, at least two we know moved to Sosúa for high season. They certainly didn’t retire.

I don’t know if it’s better to leave them alone in one place.......at least everyone knows where they are if they are looking for one.

i know numerous people who have been to Sosua, from many different countries. as we speak, six of my childhood friends from Jamaica are in Sosua on an 8 day hiatus.

i cannot think of one person i know who ever came to Sosua for the sights, unless the sights were short skirts with girls in them.

even the little water park north of San Cristobal don't remember hookers there either and definitely no or very few foreigners. Had forgotten about it for a long time wonder if its still there?? AE you might know. Had lots of little swimming areas and a cafeteria. think had a rio running through it so water was always fresh and clean.

You cant keep anything a secret, when pretty much EVERYONE has a smart phone and can take and send a video , mere micro-seconds after it happens ...

My best guess would be that prostitution brings in at least $100,000/day. That number could be very low considering my lack of knowledge and the way one wants to crunch the numbers. Compare that to Casa Marina's daily numbers and you might be able to figure out how many Casa Marinas you would have to build to replace the income from prostitution.

Monger Budget is approx $200- $250 a DAY...that is without the Hotel and airfare ... just on the ground ... food , drinks, beach, fun with the girls etc . This is based on extensive surveys done on another site catering to this "Hobby".. and if they don't know, who does ?.

let me be picky and correct you, JD. par de 5 , not 7. the great 55, not so far from El Almendro. Herminias was a landmark, with Manolos not far away. Petit Chateau was a long ride, but worth it..
