Not sure that's a valid comparison...

very easy to establish by the numbers that 'snowbirds' aren't that significant to the economy
Altho minds differ on that

A bit harder to say how Mommas would make money....

Dominican on Dominican prostitution is not the prostitution that affects Tourism in Sosua (and the DR ). Yet, some people will use that discussion to divert attention away from the topic. Sex Tourism is the point.

actually, we are aware that there is a difference between regular tourism, and sex tourism. i find it hard to grasp the idea that a country which is so comfortable with prostitution and recreational sex would have a problem with sex tourism. i mean, they even have a cabana called Ethics.

I don't find it hard to grasp at all. Perhaps because I have a Dominican family and I have seen what the government has said and what people who work in the construction of resorts are saying to me. The sex tourism discourages investors.

Dominican on Dominican prostitution does not appear on web sites like ISOC. It is far more discreet.
Dominicans in general hate the reputation of Sosua (although I see many whore mongers cannot grasp this concept either.)

Sex Tourism is just not desirable tourism.

Since political discussion, religion, race is not appropriate, we could talk about the price of guandules.
Regardless people seem to be gravitating to that soooo special sex topic Sosua.
Failed real estate moguls and failed back street sandwich shop operators with a 10K entertainment budget are heard to opine.
I've met puritan Dom's praising God, however being involved in many unsavory activities.
Privately Dominicans of high or low level take a pragmatic attitude "Es cosa de la vida".
Obviously discretion is is modus operandi, who likes in your face low life's?
In the countries where prostitution is legal there is no discussion of sex tourism.
Australia, Germany as examples.
Thailand is a whole different level and global tourists get on splendidly and harmoniously.
On the surface the DR GOV does not want the DR to have in your face sex tourism, money laundering, nor being a drug transshipment destination.
Below the surface are some officials profiting from sex and drugs, highly unlikely!

This is starting to sound like a scratched 45rpm. If they really, really wanted Sosua cleaned up all they have to do is what they did on independencia in SD centro. Get a couple of PN pickup trucks and cruise the strip picking up the girls. Do this every single night for one month and problem is solved. The hoe monger message boards would be ablaze with updates and trips would get cancelled................... but if they did that now the bars, playero, the booze store, pico pollos would be complaining big time cuz most of their business is gone............... catch 22

If Doms are so much against Sosua why aren't they burning tires, protesting in the street..... or did i miss the news?

I think they realize they have a Dilemma on their hands , and were just hoping the " problem" tourists would just GO away on their own .. but SLOWLY..
I actually do think they have a plan in place, boiling the Frog Slowly this way.. If they did it abruptly, exactly what you stated would happen, and no one wins...

So we can not assume by their INACTION, that there is nothing in Play, or that they gave up.... that is just not the case,
and so there is action on their Part ... its just so slow that one almost needs Time Lapse Photography to see the changes ....

Of course they could do what they did on Independencia. Sounds like a plan.

Did you notice that all establishments in the hooker heaven part of Pedro Clisante must now be restaurants? No Discos any more? That other changes were made over time as well?

Doms that don't like Sosua don't go there. It's not like they are going to turn off prostitution for themselves, so there is no need to burn condoms in the streets. What the powers that be will do tomorrow, I have no idea. Never was good at predicting the future.

You and your family must live in a very special bubble in Cabarete.
I also have heard what gov officials in Cab. and SDQ are saying.
I also see what has been done in the last 20 years.
Where is that massive investment in Cab. Sosua Las Terrenas POP or Playa Dorada?
There are some condos in Playa D. and Dom owners from Santiago and other areas are there.
The other puritanical havens without prostitutes have no influx of massive investments nor tourists.
P.C. is where most of the most and tourism goes, including prostitutes.
I think the DR Gov will be fine without Windy family interpetation of their policies.
By the way are there mongers and prostitutes at the bar's where you play, are there any drugs being consumed?
Sureley not at those pristine ventures.
Better get out of the night life and music scene, to avoid conflict of interest!

I do indeed live in a bubble. No question about it. In my own personal bubble, prohibition never works. Legalize, regulate and tax such things that would other wise be prohibited. I am not the tail that is going to wag that dog. The government does not like the reputation prostitutes give the DR. That is not an interpretation. It is a fact.

In your case, I suppose you missed the development of LifeStyles in Cabarete, Aldiana a major AI Resort about to open in Cabarete, Dream City and their plans (which albeit may never happen they are just so very big ) just up the hill from Sosua Abajo. But no mind, you spoke to your contacts and I spoke to mine. Lifestyles and Aldiana should easily overcome the numbers of whore mongers on Pedro Clisante very soon. Did you notice the whore house down the street from Janets in Cabarete and just a stones throw from LifeStyles was forced to leave Cabarete? I did.

As for prostitution and drugs, I just avoid them when playing music or when not playing music. I can assure you, my life depends on such avoidance. I have no conflict of interest in that way.

Read the original post in this thread over again. Do you just discount it as not being true because of the bubble you are in?

Maybe, and its just a Theory
Dominicans are against it because they know 90 % of them (their MEN) Patronize Hookers in one way or the other ..
The the other 5 % Hire Smoking HOT Secretaries ,, with the benefits ..
(yes i know that leaves 5% unaccounted for )

I love the Dominican People, but they are bad Liars , and hypocrites ... not bad as in bad people, just bad at making it believable .

Like Jimmy Swaggart Malo.. just like THAT ...

I have another theory. They want the girls available to them, on the side, behind closed doors. They do NOT want anyone to assume all Dominican women are sluts, because that reflects on their sisters, daughters, mothers, etc. Sosúa and Boca Chica paint that picture to some.

Sorry to be so "real" ,, but there are only a couple of Social demographics who do this on a consistent basis , especially in Sosua ..
these are the same demographics who have over the top loud parties at their Villas, and proposition girls who are walking with their MOM hand in hand ..
So you may have a point there..

I have a suggestion. Soon, Ahnvee Resort should be available pretty cheap.

An association of dedicated whore mongers could purchase the resort at 40 cents on the dollar and make it a "True and Actual All Inclusive Resort" , if you know what I mean.

They could even offer rates with increments of 20 minutes for room use, but "other payments" can only be negotiated directly with the service provider. They could call it Blackbeards Field of Wet Dreams.

It will need some renovations to put doors on the bathroom areas.

Actually, that's what the police (only it's CESTUR, not Policia Nacional) have been doing every night for months. It's like a sports event watching the girls sprinting away, diving into bars where they pretend to be girlfriends of sometimes bewildered gringos. If you see a heard of chicas racing past you can bet that CESTUR aren't far behind. The thing is that after a night in a cell, the girls who are slow enough to get caught just go back on the street the next day, and the process repeats. It may gradually be having an effect as the girls decide they've had enough, but it's so slow that it's hard to see.

True words!

But these truth are self-evident and no all sex or putas are created equal!

Some people can't even grasp a simple concept.

Page 63 and the simple concept of Dominicans do no care about prostitution because none of the above, but because all of the bad insects that sex tourism attracts, ie; mongers, and sexually distorted sicko minds flying in from all over to Sosua, specifically because of the "virtues" of this little town.

Seems as though Dominicans like to keep prostitution for themselves and out of sight of tourists. Unlike Germany, who cater to sex tourists and keep it out of sight for the locals. Ironically, Germany seems better at keeping it on the down low.
