Seems as though Dominicans like to keep prostitution for themselves and out of sight of tourists. Unlike Germany, who cater to sex tourists and keep it out of sight for the locals. Ironically, Germany seems better at keeping it on the down low.

Dominicans on Dominicans do a very good job of keeping what they do out of sight of anyone else.

Google translation of the law on prostitution. Article 190 is a special interest if you think you can set up a place for prostitution:

Article 185. Procuring is the act of engaging and intervening for profit to favor the prostitution of another person in any of the following ways: 1) Helping, assisting or protecting the prostitution of another adult person. 2) Obtaining some profit from the prostitution of another person who is routinely given to this practice, distributing their income or receiving payments, partially or totally. 3) Hiring a person for prostitution or taking it or diverting it to that practice, or exerting pressure on it for it to prostitute or continue to do so. 4) Performing intermediation trades between two people so that one is given to prostitution and the other exploits or pays. 5) Providing the pimp with the fictitious justification of the resources obtained from this practice, without prejudice to the infractions provided for in the law on money laundering. 6) Hindering the prevention, control, assistance or reeducation undertaken by the competent public bodies against prostitution. Article 186. For the purposes of this article and this code, prostitution will be understood as any sexual relationship made in exchange for an economic remuneration (or promise of remuneration). Article 187. Procuring shall be punished with two to three years of minor prison and a fine of seven to nine salaries. Article 188. Procuring shall be punished with four to ten years of major prison and a fine of four to ten salaries if committed with any of the following aggravating circumstances: 1) To the detriment of two or more victims. 2) To the detriment of one or more persons who have been induced to surrender to prostitution outside the territory of the Republic or on the occasion of their arrival in Dominican territory. 3) By an ascendant in any degree, or by the adoptive parent or mother of the victim who is a prostitute, or by a person who has authority over it or abuses the de facto authority conferring his or her functions over it, if the link is apparent or known by the author. 4) By a person called to participate for their functions in the fight against prostitution, the protection of health or the maintenance of public order. 5) By a person who carries a weapon. 6) With the use of constraint, violence or fraudulent maneuvers against the victim. 7) By several people acting as author or accomplice, regardless of whether or not they constitute an association of criminals. 8) Through a communications network that allows the dissemination of messages intended for an indeterminate audience. Article 189. If the pimping is committed against a person who is particularly vulnerable because of his illness, disability, physical or psychological deficiency, or state of pregnancy, and this situation is apparent or known to the author, the penalty shall be twenty thirty years in prison and a fine of twenty to thirty salaries. Article 190. Penalties of ten to twenty years of major prison and the complementary penalties provided in articles 30, 35 and 40 of this code who commit habitually, directly or through a third party, the following facts will be sanctioned: 1) Own, manage, exploit, direct, operate, finance or contribute to any of the above actions [?] In a commercial establishment intended for adult prostitution. 2) Accepting or tolerating in a habitual way that one or several persons surrender to the adult prostitution inside their establishment or in its annexes and dependencies, or look for clients there for this practice.

I have a suggestion. Soon, Ahnvee Resort should be available pretty cheap.

An association of dedicated whore mongers could purchase the resort at 40 cents on the dollar and make it a "True and Actual All Inclusive Resort" , if you know what I mean.

They could even offer rates with increments of 20 minutes for room use, but "other payments" can only be negotiated directly with the service provider. They could call it Blackbeards Field of Wet Dreams.

It will need some renovations to put doors on the bathroom areas.

Like the idea but 40 cents on the dollar might be expensive unless you could move Ahnvee to the beach or move the beach to Ahnvee. Even so, the lack of bathrooms might be a deal breaker.

They might have showers, sinks and toilets but no bathrooms. Sorry, didn't know they have glass walls. Game changer.

In regard to real estate developers recoiling from investment in Sodom and Gomorrah.
Whereas not all real estate investments are involved, there is a significant ammount of money laundering from criminal activities involved in the reeal estate development.
White colar crime seems just that, while and clean.
People will have to make up their minds as to what is more unsavory.
Yamulka trolling the strip, or some developers and gov.com involved in permits and other ways.
Discretion and out of view is always prefrebal in unsavory activities.
Wouldn't want to offered the Christian community.

While papi.com is out of the hose ma know's what he's doing and ma also likes to play.
I know of Dominican grandma's who pay young guy's for entertainment.
They ain't no US Quakers.
Buy the way Canadian and European tourists are less than shoked or concerned about Sosua's naughty rep.
They go happily to Sosua inexpensive option, or Punta Cana.
Most Canadians know and go to P.C.
However the short flight from the East Coast and price point gets many to POP.
I think last Sunday 7 flights arrived.

Sos/Cab offers more in terms getting 'out & about'..

that has appeal to many.

As someone pointed out earlier... the new investments are BIG in Cabarete

This is starting to sound like a scratched 45rpm. If they really, really wanted Sosua cleaned up all they have to do is what they did on independencia in SD centro. Get a couple of PN pickup trucks and cruise the strip picking up the girls. Do this every single night for one month and problem is solved.

In truth it didn't work in SD, the girls just moved to the Malecon. Down by the bomba close to Avis there is always a large group of working girls every night, often with some uniformed miltary guys hanging around. I'm not sure if the intention is that the military guys protect them but it's all very in your face. But as mentioned already, this is Dominican on Dominican prostitution.

In the UK, Channel 4 made a documentary called Evil in Paradise about the sex tourism business in Dom Rep. My friend who is very high up in tourism told me that some very important people in government had been very bothered by it as it would have an effect on putting off families from coming to Punta Cana, which is the key target. I think this is probably at the heart of why Sosua and Boca Chica are being cleaned up. Nothing influences government policy here more than tourist dollars (and I'm not talking about the type of nickel-and-dime tourists who come for a cheap chica in Sosua).

In truth it did work. It cleaned up the residencial area around independencia. At the time Residencia G39 and a couple other towers were near completion of construction. The neighborhood got together and made a few protests complaining they can't take a walk at night without putas everywhere.

I clearly remember one night walking from Pacos to the Manolos and I counted up to 194 putas within that walk. Five or more on every street corner. You don't see that NOW. A large group by Avis is away from the residential area and certainly not the numbers like in the past.

You don't see the putas hanging outside the casas on Pasteur begging customers to come inside. Putas are no longer strolling the malecon in front of the grand hotels.

Guys would stand on the balcony of Riazor and call down to the putas to make their selection and have the chica come up without ever leaving the room............. You don't see any of this anymore.............

An example of "the sausage effect" . Squeeze on one spot and things flow to another. An example of why prohibition never works. People in one spot might be happy that the problem is now someone else's.

Correct in that the powers that be in control of the real money being made in the DR are against sex tourism and just that bad reputation you describe. The Attorney General, for example, although the current one is not as vocal about it as the previous one.

This is what I have been saying all along. My opinion for anyone to see is that prohibition never works. The best they can do is find a way to keep it hidden as well as is possible. The powers that be cannot figure out how to do that with the existing laws on the books.

Exactly, my reference to the SD situation the puta trade left the residential/tourist area and are now in a somewhat remote area. You would actually be out looking for putas to be in that area. When they were on independencia a tourist who just decided to walk out the back parking lot of the grand hotels got "smacked in the face" with the puta trade.

We all know prostitution will never leave and most don't want it too. Just have it on the down low...........

SD seems to have a new, less visible, red light region.

Sosua began to receive special attention, yet again, when both the Putas and certain Johns, each in their own way, started to "smack..." as you describe it in plain view.

True, but at least they’re out of the residential area. Head out the other end of the malecon, as we do on our way home, the first cabana is called Queen something-or-other. From a couple of blocks before, even in the afternoon, there are girls on corners or strolling slowly. Convenient I guess, pick her up, drive into cabana, do your business and off you go. Gives new meaning to a fast lunch.

Pretty much so, the putas are still available but you have to go find them. Even late at night a few of the remaining hardcore chicas will work independencia. Nothing at all like in the past chicas working in groups of 5 or more, couldn't walk in Villars Hnos restaurant without a dozen hoes blocking the door, no more putas on the railing flaunting their merchandise at the casas, groups of mongers dining at Manolos gone. I guess it has been seven years or so since the cleanup. Lapus the puta bar got bull dozed down, Alegre (sp) take out bar got shut down and demolished. The remaining three casas on Pasteur are real low key.
