Just as Chris predicted - we are getting some rain! The dark clouds rolled in about 2 pm and the skies opened up about 2:45. It was shortlived but might start again..... WE are getting some much needed rain.

LOL, I wanted to yell .. Hey, Planner, look out the window! The current bunch of rainy clouds is followed by another few - so, about three days with rainy spells overall is my guess - that is if all else stays the same.

Hey Chris - I actually did look out hte window when I did my report - that is my scientific system.....LOL But then the clouds came a bit later.... about 2 hours or so......... that is how fast things change. We didn't get all that much rain though... probably more tomorrow I am told.

Good morning, it is hot today and it is very humid! We are completely overcast again today. We don't have threatening looking cloud cover but I would not rule out rain later today. There is almost no breeze and it is very humid so it feels much hotter then it is.

Yesterday we stayed mostly overcast with a few sunny breaks. We did not get any rain.

The satellite is showing cloud cover for most of the day.

Good morning. We had a bit of rain over night, not tremendous amounts. Today we are completely overcast and I expect more rain. We need it but after months of sun it is a bit hard to get used to. Maybe we will see some sunny breaks...... but right now it doesn't look like it. As Chris says though, if you don't like the weather just wait a few minutes....

Good morning. We have mostly blue skies today with a few clouds rolling around. WE have a good strong breeze too, it is humid and HOT.

I expect this nice weather won't last too much longer. We will most likely be effected by Hurricane Dean passing south of us. We will see rain and winds by Saturday I expect, maybe sooner. Get your beach time in now.... But dont' worry it will pass fairly quickly.

Hi Chris and thanks for that link! I have been tracking both via your thread and on various sites.........

Let me thank you on behalf of all of us for the time and effort you put in to help us all out! You are amazing and I learn so much from you....

For evryone here - we can expect the clouds to roll in later today or early tomorrow. Expect rain and some wind tomorrow and possibly rain on Sunday. WE have been very dry here in this area and a lot of rain is going to cause some problems! Be prepared.

For now we have bright blue skies, a nice breeze and it is hot and humid!

Saturday August 18

So far today we have partly cloudy skies. We had a brief bit of rain earlier today but nothing much. we have a good strong breeze as well.

It is very hot and humid. Of course the news is Hurrican Dean passing to the south of the island. We will be effected by the outer bands within the next few hours. Please be careful of heavy rains and flooding. As far as I can understand that will be our biggest threat. Our winds will pick up somewhat but I dont' think to a seriously dangerous level.

If you have not already done so, make sure you have what you need to ride this out. Our power may go out for a few hours (not a big deal lately, but that is another thread!) and you may not want to be out on the roads in heavy rains! We have water drainage issues here on the north coast.

I checked the weather forecast at Intellicast and I can tell you I won't be relying on them in the future. They are calling for scattered showers! Somehow they must have missed that massive storm off the south coast!!!!!

Everyone be safe out there. I will update as long as I have power and internet.

Thanks Kuhny, but it was not significant for us here. I dont' really understand how we could get off so easily. But we did. We had quite a bit of rain yesterday afternoon which put a damper on the long holiday weekend here. But we managed to have a good time anyway.

Today we woke to bright blue skies! IT is HOT and HUMID and almost no breeze today. It is quite a change from the breezes of the last 2 days.

It is 89F and feels much much hotter already. IT is a good day to find a beach or a pool.....

Dean passed a bit further south than forecasted, and this made a huge difference especially for the North Coast of the DR. No other hurricane (apart from Dean over the Yucatan) is currently in sight.
