Tuesday October 30

Another dreary day here in Puerto Plata, we have overcast skies with drizzle at times becoming rain. It doesn't look to clear today but possibly tomorrow.

It is hot and humid during the day and cooling off at night.

Some low lying areas of Puerto Plata are flooded and we have reports of many problems but I've not seen anything regarding loss of life.

On a personal note, I'm feeling a bit better today.

Try to have a great day.

Well the weather and the weather girl are both a bit better. I feel almost human again.

Today we are mostly overcast but no huge amounts of water falling on us. But, it is shortlived, I am told there is another major front headed our way. Get ready for some more rain!

Try to have a great day.

Good morning - a return to decent health and blue skies - yeahhhhhhh

Today we have bright blue skies, 84F, humid and a nice strong breeze. WE have a few clouds rolling around up there and I expect they will build up this afternoon as we return to typical weather patterns for this time of year.

I had dinner with a friend in Playa Dorada last night and promised a group of tourists some sunshine today! Thank goodness they don't have to come looking for me!

Have a great day.

Hi,
I just joined this forum. We are coming from the United States to the Dominican Republic. We are going to the Paradisus Palma Real Resort in Punta Canta. I wondering if you know how the weather forecast will be from Novemeber 7 to November 11? My husband received the trip from his company for being there 23 years, all expeses paid! We have never got to do any of these things. We are really excited but I hate it that the hurricane has caused so much disaster. I am kinda scared to go now. We live in Missouri so all we have is tornados and they are pretty bad. I just cant imagine a hurricane.
I hope someone replies to this soon. I wont have access to a computer after Monday. We will be there Wednesday.
Thanks and have a good weekend!

You will not notice that Tropical Storm Noel passed the DR when you are in Punta Cana. That is one of the least affected areas. Enjoy your vacation.

Thanks you! Do you know what the weather is going to be like or what website I can go to? I looked on the weather channel and it said rain everyday but then I found another one that said cloudy everyday. I need one that is more accurate.
thanks

First of all this is the Puerto Plata weather thread on the North Coast. You need to address your questions to the PUnta Cana thread.

Good morning! We have just had a fantastic weekend. Monday was a holiday here in the country and locals flocked to the beaches here on the north coast.

Our weather for the weekend was SUNNY, HOT, BREEZY, with the temperatures dropping a bit at night making for great conditions for sleeping.

Today is a continuation of this great weather! We have bright blue skies, hot, hot, hot and a light breeze! Don't forget your sunscreen.

Have a great day.

Good morning, another stunning day here in paradise! WE have clear blue skies, 86F and a very light breeze. The nights cool down a bit - makes for better sleeping.

For those of you in the rapidly cooling north - time to book your travel plans!

Have a great day.

Today we have some scattered clouds and the odd rain shower. But lots of sun in between. It feel really humid today too.

Ecco - we did not have a hurricane, it was a tropical storm. Almost all the damage was on the south and west of the island! There was no damage to Playa Dorada or the hotel you are coming to. Relax, you will have a great vacation. Remember to pack school supplies for the kids!

Have a great day.

Friday November 9

Good morning again. Today we are partially overcast. It rained earlier this morning but it is not currently raining. I do expect we could see more of the wet stuff.

IT is only 78F and very humid and I am sure the temperature will climb to about 86F!

School supplies - pencils, pens, erasers, sharpeners, rulers, chalk and erasers, white board markers, colour pencils, highlighters, stickers.... THey are almost all small and easy to pack. Don't bring paper as it is too heavy to pack.... save the room for other things. And thank you in advance!

Have a great day.

Rain Rain Go Away

It calls for rain everyday up until the 17th. Are these usually accurate? And if so, how long does it usually rain for? We're coming there for vacation on the 19th and I'm really worried that we won't see any sunshine?....please advise?

Weather Info

This is my first message and I'm still unsure as how to properly use this, so please bare with me.

I am travelling to Puerto Plata in 10 days and I've noticed that the weather network calls for rain right up until the 17th. Does this usually consist of a whole day of rain or just a portion of the day? SHould I expect a full vacation of rain or will I get to see some sun too? This is my first trip to the Domincan and I'm very excited but I'd hate to have a whole week of rain.

Please help...

Unless it's a tropical storm stalling out, when it can rain for days (e.g. Noel), we usually only get rain in PP in late afternoons. That's on the days when we get any at all. Most sunbathing tourists have had enough sun by 4pm so it normally isn't a hardship. Unfortunately my Cassandra like powers of prediction are having a freaky Friday so regret I can't tell you whether a storm will stall out from November 19th. onwards but if you come across anyone who can I'd love to meet them..............:)

Have a great holiday!
