Before I bring the real facts about this case to light, first a bit of background about me and my sources...

I have known one of the "accused" for over 6 years and I was the original creator of one of the websites at issue. (he bought me out years ago) I also know his wife and 5 kids very well. My fianc? is a friend of the family and was once a client of the marriage introduction service website and I have personally seen all the girls contracts/bios that they fill out and sign when they want to be included online for an opportunity to meet and marry a nice western gentleman. Not a single one of them is under 19 years of age and most of them are in their mid 20's to early 30's with a few in their 50's as well. (And yes, they do check cedulas) I have gone along on some of the photo shoots so I have seen this first hand.

A raid of 15 national police armed with machine guns stormed his house early Thursday morning to raid "a huge child prostitution ring"

Where did the police get the info to make this arrest? Why from a disgruntled ex-partner from a previous business of one of the principals in the company involved.

Did the police check their facts before storming their houses? Did they do due diligence and investigate the companies background prior to terrorizing a family with 5 kids peacefully sleeping at home at 6:30 am? Did they at least go online and look at the supposed "child porn websites"? Did they contact any of the women members online? Of course not! If they had, they would have realized this was just a case of someone trying to take revenge on another for bad blood between them.

So far what we have is the police storm the houses of the website owners, seize all the computers, telephones, CD's and anything else that looks technical. They even took the old computers from his kids bedrooms that they use to browse and chat online with their friends.

Then we have the news reporters showing up and talking to one of the women on the model showcase website. They chat a bit and get some footage. Then the reporter makes up a story that she is a child prostitute and goes on TV to say what a horrendous crime this is and look how good our police are in busting this. Imagine her surprise that the Dominican Model Website that she is on to showcase some of the beautiful people this country has available for magazine and fashion modeling is actually a kiddy porn site?Imagine the surprise of her family to see this! Imagine their great surprise in finding out on TV that their 25 year old daughter is actually a minor, and is not in fact engaged to be married, but is a child prostitute! Again, no facts needed for sensationalism in the DR! They just make it up as they go!

Then we have the front page headline in a national newspaper about a huge internet child porn and prostitution ring being busted. Did you see that? Did you see the photo on page 4 of all the CD's with child porn photos? Again sensationalism at its finest. Again all a load of crap! Actually they were just music CD's and a couple of computer software programs like printer drivers etc. Add to that the age old computers that his kids use and it sure looks impressive, but is completely harmless. Never a close up photo of the CD's though, then you would be able to see the music and computer labels.

Imagine if this happened to you? What if someone told the cops you were the king of child porn? What would your computer and CD collection look like when spread out on a table? Never mind that you have no porn on your computer, never mind that you are completely innocent. Truth doesn't enter into sensationalism. What would your family and friends think when they saw the "facts" about you on TV and in the newspapers?


Yesterday, he and his whole family, friends and associates, clients and others had to spend the day in court (mostly waiting) in POP and are returning again this afternoon. My fianc? (among many others) will again be testifying as to the honorability of these people and their company.

Will the retraction as to the falsehood of these claims get just as much publicity? Will the newspapers and TV stations actually admit they were completely wrong about the whole thing and publish retractions? For the sake of everyone involved I sure hope so, but I am not holding my breath.


It is amazing how many people automatically jump the gun and believe the worst without knowing any actual facts. Oh but my high ranking contacts in the Dominican Police force told me about it! Again rumours and innuendo.

Have you ever played the game where you get a bunch of people to sit in a circle, have one person whisper a sentence into the next persons ear, that person then repeats what they heard to the next person and so on until it comes around full circle? If so, you know what I'm talking about. If not, I recommend you try it. Not only is it great fun, it is quite an eye opener to hear how different the original sentence is from what it ends up after being repeated 10 times.

Everybody adds their own version of the "facts" to what they hear based on personal experiences and prejudices. They do not do this consciously, it is part of human nature and the way our minds work. As any police officer can tell you, 10 witnesses to the same event will tell you 10 different stories. Each is biased by the individuals perceptions and prejudices.

Some people say there are 2 sides to every story. Actually there are 3. The 2 opposing views and then the truth.


Yes indeed, pedophiles are the scum of the earth and they should all get locked up for life or worse. But there must be proof first. It seems that rumours and innuendo are all it takes in this country.

Sometimes, I feel just as dumb as a stump...
First of all, I never knew that it was illegal to sell sex over the internet. There seem to be so many sites doing it, I simply assumed it was legal.
Then I read about this sex bust, and get totally sucked into believing that what was written was true. It didn't even cross my mind that these 2 dudes might be innocent.
I saw a report on some South American country's economy being ruined because somebody started a false rumour on the internet that their bananas were carrying some strange disease.
Then you have drsol reporting that we sell sawdust burgers here, that I cheat employees out of their liquidations, that no a single expat would ever step foot in here, and I wonder who might be stupid enough to believe such crap.
Now I know.. Guys like me, gullible as heck, believing stories, just because I see them written in black & white in newspapers and on the internet.
If these accused sex offenders are proved innocent, somebody owes them an apology, and even that isn't enough.
Here you have their names plastered over the front page of a newspaper as being pedophiles.
That can't be good for one's reputation.

My question regarding the recent arrrests is why? Then I thought, well, they have all of this info, all of this so called evidence, I thought the worse and I got angry, I was in shock and thought "jeeesh you just don't know anyone anymore". There is this law that it is illegal to "sell sex" on the internet in the Dominican Republic so go figure. Unfortunetely, all of these website owners and operators MUST screen their members (both clients and females) better to insure that "sex" isn't the #1 thing on their menu. For the record I still remain with this very strong opinion that there is an evil element of child sex exploitation in this country because first of all I have seen it with my own eyes and I know it exists here. I know there are pedophiles pouring into this country to do evil deeds with innocents and when I mean innocents I am not talking about consenting adults that wish to do whatever it is that they wish to do. I am talking about children!

A small aside, just because it bugs me: it is "trata de blancas", roughly translated it means "white slavery", or the smuggling of women (regardless of color) for prostitution purposes. That has nothing to do with paedophilia or child abuse.

"Trasta de blancas" is here, it is being practiced and yes it does have alot to do with what we are discussing here. It's good to see that you too have your opinions though!

How a marriage agency website for adults only or a modelling agency showcasing Dominican talent ends up being equated with child exploitation and prostitution is beyond me. The only minors on the modelling site are D's own kids! They are damn cute and would do great modelling childrens clothing or the like. (Which is the sole purpose of that particular website.) Again it seems that rumours and innuendo are all it takes.

Like you say Scotty, "all this so called evidence". A bunch of music and computer CD's does not constitute evidence. Only when sensationalism is what they are after does it come into play. This story ran before they even had time to examine the contents of the computers and CD's.

I have never seen "D." get more angry than when someone emails or telephones him just looking for sex from one of the women members (or men) that have signed up on his websites to find that perfect spouse. He vehemently refuses to deal with this kind of disgusting practice and stresses that fact that these people are looking for marriage, not sex. More often than not, when possible, he reports the men looking for prostitutes to the FBI and other authorities.

I am also surprised Scotty, that even though you know him, you jumped the gun and believed this crap without checking further. Like you say, "jeeesh you just don't know anyone anymore". But you do know him and I'm sure your first gut reaction was that this could not be true!

As for screening clients and members, this is done with due diligence, hence the total respectability of his business and until this farcical episode began, his reputation.

As for why the arrests? As mentioned previously, it appears that a disgruntled ex business partner of one of the company owners saw this as a convenient way to "get back" at him for the bad blood between them regarding the breakup of their previous business relationship.

Seeing as how the Dominican Authorities are trying to remove the stigma of the DR's image as a sex destination (a commendable goal) they jumped on this bogus tip with full force.

Speaking of children, maybe the worst affected in this whole episode are D's 5 kids who where terrorized at 6:30 am by the storm troopers who raided their peaceful sleep one early morning last week. I am sure they will not soon forget the trauma of seeing all the cops with machine guns taking Daddy away.

You know I must agree with you regarding "D" and I was shocked. But then again, I have seen guys being brought into my job I work in that I grew up with and thought the same thing as my jaw is lying on the floor. You just never know. This investigtaion came from Santo Domingo and these guys will not be the only ones I am sure. As for your veiled threats, be careful for what you wish for. I don't get it. If you know this man and his family, why did you post such a strong condemnation of him (which you have since edited and toned down). You mentioned that you had inside information and that "These people were caught 'red handed' with over 14,000 photos of nude children on several different computers. This has been an intense investigation over several months with other international assistance.". It now seems that the raid was due to a personal squabble (which doesn't seem to involve you but I am guessing you might have know about) and there is no international investigation.

Being that you know these people, why would you condemn them in an open forum, before any "facts" are known. Why not simply bring it up as a news item.

Also, I don't understand why you would post the link to their site when you believe this site promotes sex through the internet and you believe this is illegal. Posting their address only creates interest and possible future clients for them.

This is my frist post to this board. I have traveled to the dr for a number of years and i know the two men involved in all this mess. I feel so bad for D and his family these are great people and like some poster have said D would never condon these things that are being said about him. I do not know the other gentlemen to well but i have spent sometime with him and i also find it hard to belive he would be involved in such horrible behavior.

All i can say is what i know of these to men and the friendship they have extended to me. I feel they have been wrongfully accused and when the truth comes out i hope all you which hunters that base rumor as fact jump up and admit what you did was wrong. Like most sane people we are all disgusted by chid porn and anyone involed in it should pay the most extreme price and be locked away for a very long time.

But in this case i truly belive with all my heart that these mean where unfairly accused and D,s poor childern having to witness that early morning raid is so horrible i can only hope that with good friends and family the truth will come out about all this and D and his family can get back to a normal way of LIfe.

As for me i will contiue my surrport for my good friend D and his family. And for the ones that started this tread and attacked D and his family you should all be ashamed of what you did and i hope you never have to experince the horror you and the dr media have put on these innocent people.

I use to have a great deal of repect for members on this board but after the last few days all i feel is total disgust for the which hunt that went on here.

I just got off the phone with one of these men 5 minutes ago. First I stressed my apologies to him for jumping on the bandwagon after getting over the shock and then anger. Where this story came from and who started it is anyone's guess. It was published in a newspaper! Cripes if there is ever a time to NOT believe everything you read it is now! Anyway, he was running out the door to court and could not talk much. I want to wish him all the best. In closing I want to say that we all were thinking the same thing. What if it was you? What if it was me? Yes, yes...the rope would have been coming out and you would have been the first to throw that rope over the branch. We are guilty of these thoughts and for that I must as a man apologize to this man and his family and friends Karl and Jim primarily for jumping to conclusions. I should have known better!

However, this warning does go out to anyone of us that performs the act's of exploitation of children. Beware! This department is still out there and it is still investigating regardless of what you and I do or think!

But we must also know that this department that is investigating these sites is going on some sort of intelligence. It is being driven by an international community demanding justice. There is wrong going on here and these evil people know who they are. It is most unfortunate that people like the ones accused had to indure this. You keep blaming on the newspapers. Newspapers, in general, only report the events that happened. In you original post (which has since been edited) you said you had inside information from a "high-up military source". What was that all about?
