Speaking of remembering DR1ers and real Dominican life there was this member years ago he was a retired artist I think. Can't recall his name. He wrote about his life with this Dominican nurse he shacked up with in Villa Mella or Villa Juana and the things her boys did. That was some of the best material I ever read about this place. Who was it?

I believe it was Dan Duva. He had some prolific posts about life in villa mella with his wife and her sons.

I did enjoy reading his real-life stories. Probably the most realistic description of living a typical Dominican daily life.

Tell him we want him to come back and update us!
Yes and no. Like the reason Jerry Seinfeld never revisited the show. Would never be able to stand up to the original. Dan's humor style was the best. "You would find toothbrushes everywhere, in the drain, mop buckets, on the stove... I'm sure the neighbors had some of our toothbrushes" 😂

I still occasionally drop into the country but now I am a liquor store department manager in Sacramento. Last time was in September to deal with the loose end of an abandoned Puerto Plata timeshare, which I successfully closed.

Speaking of Graham he made out very well with Alberto, he used to talk people into putting money with Alberto af which he would get 5% annually on what they deposited with Alberto.

A lot of people lost a lot of money with Alberto. One DR1 member who is no longer with us lost all her retirement savings. It was a big chunk of money - well into the six-figure range.

I sat with Alberto back in 2009 or 2010 at the old Field Of Dreams hotel and he had me partially convinced to invest in the cabaña La Roca but I was fortunate to be talked out of doing so by a friend. I know several guys that lost their azzes. You've got to hand it to him,he had a good schtick.

I guess I was one of the lucky ones. I had a large sum with him and needed it to complete a house purchase.
He had told me on numerous occasions I could get my money back at any time I wanted, and I suspect that's why he gave it back.
He was reluctant to do it, but I insisted.

You asked for your money back at the right time before things started going downhill for him. If you had waited maybe another year, you would have probably lost everything just like everybody else did.

Whatever happened to BronxBoy?
He, GaryEx and I met up for drinks at a buddy's restaurant across from the monument back in 2017. We had a few drinks and a good laugh.

I noticed he stopped posting/ moderating a few years ago. Hope he's doing well.
