I got mine from Alerta in Santiago. 809-583-6900. I have had it about 10 years.
Since my large dog was asleep on the job last night as we were robbed......My wife and I have decided we need a small, alert, yippy dog.......We really do not like chihuahuas....therefore,,,,does anyone know of any miniature schnauzers for sale???
thanks
yep....We were home...it happened about 330am. I do not want to go into too much detail since, naturally, would like to try and track down who did it.They climbed over a 6-8 foot high wall. One of the problems I will have is what to do if I find out who did it.....
If your dog didn't respond, its a likely hood he knew the intruder and possibly ignored him.
I keep telling my girlfriend that and she still refuses to let me get one.
Bronzie does bring up an interesting point about the weakness of solely relying on dogs for your security.
Bars
Alarm
Dogs
Guns/Training.
You can probably get by with two of the above. The Bars and Alarm would be a minimum for me.
Where are you? There is a guy standing along side the highway in Sosua who holds small dogs out toward the passing cars quite often. Don't know if they are chihuas or not, but they seem to be small yappy types.Since my large dog was asleep on the job last night as we were robbed......My wife and I have decided we need a small, alert, yippy dog.......We really do not like chihuahuas....therefore,,,,does anyone know of any miniature schnauzers for sale???

EXACTLY what happened to us in the US. 100 pound Boxer in house. Me in Italy visiting son in college for Easter, Mr. AE in DR visiting family for Semana Santa, daughter working at casino stayed home with dog. House robbed and ransacked while she was working, dog locked in our bedroom - upstairs. They came in through basement window, which was conveniently unlocked. We found out about a year later it was someone who we knew, who had been in our home a zillion times and called me "mom". Dog knew him very well and let him right in. He was probably following them around like a puppy so they locked him in bedroom so he wouldn't annoy them.
After that we installed a good alarm system.
Get a gun, 2 cans of pepper spray, an outside motion detector, inside motion detector, door and window alarms, make friends with the neighbors, and get a couple daggers or machetes.
If you really want dogs to settle the situation. You can get 4 pit bulls or 4 types of viscious dogs. Dogs in a pack is where they are naturally good. They work together in case of emergency like a pack of wolves would. Keep them in the house at night so noone feeds or puts them to sleep. DO not get all of them as puppies because it will take them months to be able to help you out with security.
You, yourself, you can take martial arts classes in karate or aikido or stick fighting or choose another art. I have heard many stories of martial artists who killed burglars in their homes.
