I don't like the Contrabando.... I'll take the Doble Reserva.... but really like my Ron de Casa

WW you must be asleep. We ALL agree that Dominican Rum is NG. But other Spirits are definitely cheaper for alcohol content than you can buy elsewhere. I showed it with the post on Flor De Cana rum.

And I showed how you can buy Flor de Cana 7 in the 🇩🇴 for less than the cost of Duty Free.
Flor de Cana 7 is a product of Nicaragua.
Bottled at ABV 40% and 750 ml
It is an excellent rum at that price point for both sipping and mixing.

Flor de Cana 18 is the best rum I have ever tasted.

Yes, Doble Reserva is aged in two barrels.
Used "American whiskey" and used sherry.
They don't tell how long it is aged in each type of barrel.
But on my taste buds the only thing Doble is the hype.
It does not work well for me as a sipper.
It is not better than Extra Viejo as a mixer.
I will keep my extra 200 pesos and keep rocking the Extra Viejo bottled at ABV 38%

I am not a fan of Barcelo in general.
One exception is: Barcelo Gran Platinum when I need a neutral rum for mixing.
I need to re up.

Take the hand off from the cashier.
And run like Billy "White Shoes" Johnson until it was safely on my shelf.
