For the same reason those with low self-esteem come to the DR for cheap sex. Everybody needs a little, and they can't get it at home...and wimminzes like all that "attention with an agenda", even when they convince themselves it is otherwise.

I have little sympathy for an adult that gets themselves into these situations.

I DO NOT consider myself to have low self-esteem nor did I go there for cheap sex. I thought I had met a good man who wanted the same things out of life that I wanted. I didn't think I was being played by him. I agree that if there are warning signs of a "sankie" then don't go through with it. But in my situation once he got here was when things started going wrong and then it was too late. And I'm sure others have experienced the same.

I hope that if one of your friends or a family member goes through this and you see their pain then you would have sympathy. Never say never. Have a heart, don't be like a sankie.

Things happen in people's lives and if we knew the outcome we would make different choices.

While certainly "one size" does not fit all, there is large enough body of evidence to suggest what I say is true. I've seen it with my own eyes, as have many, many DR1ers.

When you are young it's understandable to use one's heart in the decision making process, so it's (again) understandable why youth make bad decisions.

As one gets older, he/she tends to make more cerebral decisions.

So in my mind and experience, when I see a "mature" person sankieized I don't have the same level of sympathy as I do for a younger, naive person.

Sometimes cynicism is wisdom.

Going back for "more" is great as long as it's kept that way, but we all know the women (and men in some cases) aren't satisfied with just returning for "more" and try to turn their temporary arrangement into a permanent one. The true person is exposed at that time, which is too late and causes much pain as their expectations are unfulfilled .... monogamous sankie? :ermm:

I agree with MQ, currently living in the DR i see it all the time in the streets in clubs, even at the supermarket. These beautiful young girls with these old men or these old woman (and most that ive seen are not overweight or ugly) with these sexy young DR men..... I'm sure that at a point in the relationship they are both aware of whats happening. Some sankies can even get to be good friends wiht u and never ask u for nothing others can be total jerks once u turn them down either for sex or money! People should not judge or generalize unless it trully happened to u.
Avrora, go down to the DR go see what a beautiful country it is, how nice people can be but my advice is dont go down by thinking that u already know it all about sankies cuz i can put my hand on fire that once u come down u wont know what hit u ..... btw it all starts by a little " hola, de dondes eres " etc etc ..... The first time i came down it was just to get my mind off work and other personnal probs i was having not to be with someone etc etc but it happened and ive learned. They are more suave then u think at this little game! U might think u know a lot but u know nothing untill u live it for ureself!
