Sir Windy, again with the confusion or should I say disinformation. I thought you were cosigning the info about the arrival of bus loads of cruiseship patrons? The chicas are still all over the town still. Why is that?
I have no idea on the chicas all over town. I guess the government has more work to do in cleaning that up. God knows they keep trying and failing to find a way.

Blame the others who are actually seeing the cruise ship passengers and posting they are seeing them with their own eyes.
I have have been to Sosua beach less than once a year in the 21 years I have lived in Cabarete.

Well Sir windy, you co-signed on a statement when a gentleman said 'bus loads every day". It simply is not the case.
Whatever the amount is, I am not the one that stated it. I referred to the other posters. Take it up with them.

Uh huh. Well if I may give you a boots on the ground report. I travel to Sosua/ Cab way more than once a year. Each and every time I see many chicas and gentlemen buying them cocktails. They are not from a cruise ships but from Jersey,N.Y and Atlanta spending thier hard earned coin. I have almost never seen a family which I could say is off a cruise ship. I too enjoy Sosua and Cab, but not like yesteryear. Peace!

Then obviously the government has a long way to go on the whoremonger situation.
I am sure the government would rather see them all go to Thailand. By the way, one part of Pedro Clisante is just a very very very small part of Sosua.

As for seeing cruise ship families, I can only rely on what others in this thread have clearly stated they are seeing with their own eyes on Sosua Beach.

ESTATUA DE ATABEY EN SOSUA or ATABEY STATUE IN SOSUA

This is very large (very strangle looking) Concrete Statue that was started on Sosua Beach years ago.
The local Church made a big stink because it was a pagan fertility goddess statue.
It disappear for a couple years.
The two years ago, it reappeared, as it was being sunk (placed) off the Sosua Beach at the Charamicos end.

This should be a Tourist attraction (why not).

Yet.... I don't see any markers any where.
(Google Earth show a location, but I think it is too far from the Beach)
No Floating Buoys.
No signs on the Beach pointing to it.
No pictures of it anywhere.
No T-Shirt being sold with it's image.

I guess "GOD" only knows why a sunken pagan statue has no further interest.
As a pagan/heathen , I certainly don't care about it. Why would anyone?

Lots of statues underwater in this world with no identification.

based on available information:

Grenada hosts one of the first underwater sculpture parks, the Molinere Underwater Sculpture Park, which includes around 75 sculptures.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Molinere_Underwater_Sculpture_Park
https://www.sandals.com/blog/underwater-sculpture-park-grenada/
  • Mexico's Cancun Underwater Museum (MUSA) features over 500 sculptures spread across various sites.
  • The Bahamas has the Ocean Atlas, which is a single large sculpture, but it's part of a planned sculpture garden that includes works by other artists as well.

  • The Philippines, specifically in Bohol, has at least two notable statues, depicting the Virgin Mary and young Jesus, submerged to protect marine life.
  • Italy has the famous "Christ of the Abyss" statues, with copies also placed in other locations like Grenada and Florida.

  • Grand Cayman features statues like the "Amphitrite" by Simon Morris and another by Nancy Easterbrook.
  • Australia has the Museum of Underwater Art (MOUA) with installations like the "Coral Greenhouse" with 20 "reef guardians".

Given these specific examples, there are at least 600 to 700 known underwater statues around the world, but this number could be higher as smaller or newer installations might not be as widely reported or documented.

I’ve never been to Sosua beach. Much more interesting beaches elsewhere.

If you have never been to Sosua Beach, how could you possibly know this to be a Fact ?

Others who have been to many other nice beaches still love Sosua Beach.. .

But just for comparison
Which Beach do YOU consider to be Interesting ? . .so we can get an idea of your Taste.

There are many interesting beaches along the North Coast. Interesting because of their geomorphology. Interesting because they are devoid of tourists. Interesting because they have maybe one, possibly two local bars where I can stop, have a beer and an empanada and chat with the locals.

Even when Playa Dorada was my base years ago, I avoided Playa Dorada beach. I’d hang out with the locals, snowbirds, and expats at EL Pubelito and do my drinking there.

The beaches I frequented the most are Costambar (during the week when it’s quiet), Luperon Beach, and La Isabella. I’m still in awe of the remote beaches in the Monte Christi area.

Cabarete
Been to a bunch of beaches in the DR and other countries, Sosua beach was once my favorite to spend the day at.
I'd give Sosua beach the edge, but second would be Cabarete. I live in Cabarete so it isn't enough better to go there more than once or twice a year. No casitas on Cabarete beach but there are many nice bars and restaurants with good food. The sight of a hundred or more kites in the air and the wind surfers skipping across the bay is spectacular to me.

First place I stayed at in the DR was the Wyndham on Cabarete beach. We’re talking years ago and I loved it. Sat down on a stool at Jose Oshay’s and felt right at home. Still remember the awesome St. Pat’s celebrations there.

My favorite place on the beach!!! I was there every Sunday to watch football games. I was really sad to see him sell it. Frank, the owner, was a super nice guy. Always a good vibe in that place. It's been closed for a couple years now. It was rumored a Mexican place was going in there but it never materialized.

Last time I saw Frank was at Finn McCools in Sosua. A St. Pat‘s celebration. Six yeas ago at least.
