They have one.

Spend a night at Aman's Amanera hotel near Playa Grande.

Direct through immigration, no line. Have a seat in a comfortable lounge and a cocktail or soft drink while your luggage is retrieved, then direct to your waiting private Escalade

It's there.

Typical...treat regular tourists like crap.

I have never had an issue flying into the DR, but then I live here. None of our clients over the past 16 years have ever mentioned a problem either.

My last entry, there were 3 planes that landed at the same time....I waited over an hour in the immigration line.

I think it is just me.

With all this expansion...I hope it improves the daily lives of the people who live in the area...that's all I hope for. I could give a crap about expats or foreigners or the politicians...I hope for the everyday people.

Similar incident happened to me. To resolve the situation I pulled out $20US and the immigration line disappeared for me. I love a country that anything can be had for a price.

Santo Domingo.- With an investment of over US$350 million and the creation of more than 2,000 direct jobs, the future of the tourism industry in Sosúa looks promising.

The start of the construction soon of three luxury hotels by Marriott International and The Ocean Club Group is the best indicator of the dynamism observed in Sosúa.

“It is gratifying to receive high-end hotels in Sosúa that will contribute very significantly to local tourism and that will help economic growth with new jobs and visitors with greater purchasing power,” said Ilana Neumann, mayor of Sosúa.

The construction of The Luxury Collection, W Hotel and The Ritz Carlton Reserve will make Sosúa an ideal destination for tourists.

One is down the street from Bologna, the old Ganesvoort, the other two are in Cabarete, which technically is under Sosua. And people will deny it will ever happen. They are working on the old Ganesvoort. HUGE trucks carrying fill.

Are they totally tearing down the old Gavensvoort, or are you talking about the site just to the north?

bro you're speaking my language. There are very few inconveniences here that cant be solved with a U.S twenty. Up it a little and the govt lines and red tape disappear or become much more palatable.

That same service (minus the Escalade) has been available to anyone for over 10 years. You just coordinate it through the lounge (for a set price. Same as their daily entrance fee). As Conra said, your met as you get off the plane (usually by Elvis). He takes your passport, baggage claim check and immigration and customs forms. Then you have a drink in the lounge while he collects your bags and gets the paperwork stamped. Then direct escort out.

But in reality, it’s not needed as long as there aren’t multiple flights landing all at once. (A rare occurrence- Ram just attracts crowds when he travels) (;-)

My money is on Bigs for winning this bet. Press release and posts on the internet don't mean anything.

I remember a few years ago their were press releases and posts everywhere concerning relocating all the vendors from Sosua Beach. Shopping centers with parking facilities were to be constructed.

None of those plans have EVER been implemented.

Domincans love making BIG announcements which MOST of the time lead to NOTHING!!!!

Sure maybe on the RITZ worksite they may have broken some ground, perhaps started work but to see the job complete, open, ready for business with the RITZ sign up that is another story.

This is getting confusing. As far as I know, the Ritz has not broken ground. It is supposedly going to be built east of Cabarete at La Boca. It will be different than the usual Ritz hotels.

Marriot is not building three luxury resorts. They're building one in Sosua either on, or near, the Ganesvoort Resort.

W Hotels is planning to build one in Cabarete on the old Azura site.

I used to wonder why these Jet Blue types never flock to Santiago?? They absolutely love the lighter skinned Dominicans, so it would make sense to ply their trade in the Cibao region. I don't think the "Pimp Daddy fantasy" would go over to well in Santiago or the Capital. Also, their lack of Spanish and culture makes it even harder.

A couple of stupid generalisations there, which are pretty offensive.

That doesn't mean they won't get implemented. Logic alone dictates that it absolutely will happen.

It's already in production. The locals are in an uproar because the developer is transporting huge bolders and building a cribbing at the beach. And it's not the Ritz going in Sosua, the Ritz is going in La Boca in Cabarete. The one in Sosua is called something else, still through Marriott though.

They have purchased the Ganesvoort and renovating. There is no NEW hotel in Sosua being built.
