Dominicans seem to have more disposable income now. Maybe they're just eating more. Dominicans love to eat!

Take a look at some of the spandex queens on PC and there aren't any American fast food restaurants here. How do you explain that?
There are in Puerto Plata. It's not just American fast-food but in general but those with $$ tend to eat a perceived better fast-food offering.

For the poorer there's the Dominican versions. Have you ever checked out Yaroa? LOL It's a relatively new concoction and while arguably delicious, not to me though, it's not at all good for you. https://www.dominicancooking.com/31461/yaroa#the-history

What's the count on places in Sosua selling Pizza? Most of the garbage that masquerades as pizza is, inedible to me and, unhealthy in the extreme. Ever eaten at a Dominican "hamburger" or "sandwich" cart or even the container "restaurants" by the main publico stands across Hwy 5? None of it is health food and mostly pretty new.

Feel free to continue defending all the fast food crap. I don't really care what you all eat, I have my life sorted and that's all that matters.

Carry on carrying on :D

I'm not "defending American" fast food". No need to. All the chains are expanding worldwide in popularity w/o any help from me. Never said it was good for you either. I do like it from time to time though. In the US I probably averaged going to one about twice a month.

There are plenty of pica pollos and street vendors that sell what would be considered "fast food" though. The number of American fast-food restaurants pale in comparison to those type of places and when you add in 28% tax and tip to prices that are already somewhat higher than in the US, they're way too expensive for most Dominicans to be eating there regularly enough to be the cause they are getting any fatter.

I think we're getting into semantics here(?). Marriott, Hilton, and others own many other hotel chains that are operated under a different name, but they would still be considered Marriott or Hilton "properties", at least from a corporate standpoint.
The "Big" issue here is being able to redeem Marriott points at the Ocean Club, which is apparently still not possible. Hopefully this "Big" issue will soon be overcome.

Healthy or not, selling local crap food is big business if done right,Tony Yaroa's food truck in Sosua averages 30.000 pesos a night in business. I ate there once and the food was horrible but they have a line up every night that they are open until closing so they are doing something right. Oh,and you can eat off the floor in there,it is spotless.

Actually the only issue seems to be your complete inaccuracy as things related to Sosua. You indicated the chicas would be gone from Sosua "soon'. Many years later they are still there as is your well know disdain for them calling them "whores" every chance you get. You indicated the gentleman seeking companionship would go elsewhere, wrong again. You reported a Ritz Carlton was coming to the North Coast, it aint. You Reported a Marriott was open in Sosua proper, it aint.

I never once said the Chicas would be gone soon. Whores will NEVER BE GONE! From anywhere. I said the government wants them out of sight and out of mind. The government in Santo Domingo has wanted that for years. If and when that happens it is up to the government. I never said soon, not one time.

I use the words whores and whoremongers because they are technically most accurate. It is not disdain. Your use of the word gentlemen for whoremongers remains comical, but I realize you don't see it that way, do you? I find that hilarious, but that is just me. Gentlemen....

The Ritz Carlton Reserve at La Boca was given approval, started and then stopped by the environmental ministry. I had zero to do with it not happening. Blame that failure on Marriott who simply did not pay off the right people. Nor did the previous groups that attempted to build on the same piece of land, Don't you recall those other La Boca failures? Am I to blame for teme as well? The Miracle Mile, The Tech Park, the project by the former owner of Windsurf Resort which turned into a LifeStyles Resort in Cabarete? Next you will attempt to blame me because Dream City in Sosua is not yet built. Please contact the Scientologists about that. Perhaps they have one of theirs at Ahnvee you can chat with.

I do hope someday you can use your reward points at the Marriott Beach Clun in Sosua. I am certainly not responsible for the failures of others who announce things and cannot come through for you.

I have no doubt that's the case. I'm just wondering if that square is already under construction as Lobo indicated(?).
Yesterday on Sosua Beach.
The new improved look, with inside track?
I like the current rustic "charm" Dom. style.
Nice day nice crowd Dominican and gringo.

Great love German food. There should be more German restaurants
Was on the way to El Rancho but stopped at Schlemmerstube on P.C.
At 4PM they even moved tables and chairs onto the sidewalk.

They have a good selection of food reasonable prices.
Hans used to be a former owner now Manfred for a while.
Food has stayed the same, same Dominican lady cook.
I had the Gipsy Pork cutlet with fried potatoes, great meal $RD 420.

There is also the Schnitzel Paradise run by Austrians, never eaten there.

It will be interesting to see if Hotel-Bar Central can hang in there.
They are a "hotel" with a pool deck in the back.
Also a little coffee shop on the side.

HERE ANOTHER RESTAURANT

That building in your pics on Sosua Beach just looks like someone who is going to lose the money it cost to build that.
That ain't the new plaza, that is for sure.

Well, I would say your endless use of the word "whoremonger" is technically inaccurate apart from being unnecessarily offensive. A monger is someone who SELLS something as in a fishmonger or ironmonger. I don't think the partakers of services you are referring to are selling anything. https://www.vocabulary.com/dictionary/monger

Can we please move past this? In the USA the word is used exactly as windeguy does.

You are, quite simply, wrong. As I mentioned already, I am using the word correctly. Unless of course you want to debate with those who actually set the definitions for whoremonger, eh?

whoremonger

hôr′mŭng″gər, -mŏng″-

noun

  1. A man who habitually consorts with or pays for the services of prostitutes.
  2. One who has to do with whores; a fornicator.
  3. A whoremaster; a lecher; a man who frequents the society of whores.
The American Heritage® Dictionary of the English Language, 5th Edition.
My usage of whores and whoremongers, is precise, accurate and correct!
Here is another dictionary link in case you still have any doubts:

Would have thought the word whore nowadays would be considered offensive. Guess its okay behind a keyboard but it might be sub optimal to use in public.

Why do people not like calling something what it actually is? Do you like euphemisms instead, like "ladies of the evening" and the real pi$$er for me which is "Gentlemen"?

Do those make you "feel" better?

I do realize the world has gone crazy with some type of false correctness, but the words I use are 100% spot on.

Do you use the word in public? Use it behind the mic at one of your gigs and let us know how it works out.
