Then what is another couple 2, 3 thousand houses ( I would expect condos like in La Union) on land Leo bought?
I would be the first to say that the chances are at 10%, but one can always hope.
Abinader is giving title to existing houses on public land. I'm sure Leo would be glad to give title to replacement houses in Bombita if the government would remove everybody from La Cienaga. They would all have to be built first though. Don't most of the houses in La Cienaga have title to the land? That's a big legal problem there.

I'd bet nobody has titles in La Cienaga. The mayor couldn't give out titles.

And you would win that bet:

A former mayor, now dead, filled in the public park wetlands with thousands of trucks going directly by my house for many months.
His family had a trucking business so that was convenient for him.

He then gave the "property owners" permisison to build and a slip of paper to build on the filled in swamp lands in echange for a few pesos.
And so it went. No title, just premission.

Now there are thousands of people there. . They recently tried to expand again in La Cienaga and the government knocked down those recently built tin roof shacks and said enough is enough.

There were plans by previous administrations to remove La Cienaga. This new plan is just another one. It may or may not happen.
Leo does have some big money and influence in town. And it takes two to Tango.

How can houses built on filled in public park wetlands have legal title.

No, they don't have legal title.

Maybe not(?). What a scandal that would be if these people all get evicted after buying property from the mayor. Multiply the Sosua Beach caseta evictions by 100.
Mass evictions have recently happened in many places in the DR if you follow the local news.
Giving people legal title on public wetlands that were filled in? Perhaps. Only time will tell.
Current plan is to relocate them.

Should be easy to see in the above satellite view. Just south of the golf course area.

All they gotta do is build one of those "House farms" with the economical small houses and sell them at cost. I'm betting they'd jump at that. Offer them jobs to build them and it will be a no brainer.

La Cienaga (or The Swamp) is a place that floods frequently, so why would they not want a better built place to live in that is out of the frequent floods?

Bombita is about 2.5 Km northwest of La Cienaga just south of The Perla Marina/Crazy Ranch area.

There have been many mass evictions in the DR totaling in the thousands, but has there ever been an eviction and relocation of thousands of people all from one place at the same time?

I don't know the total at once before. But there is a first time for everything.

Hopefully this will work out. If you see the part on google maps where Leo is rebuilding the golf course and where that land goes northwest for about 1.5 Km and then northeast to the main highway and back toward the entrance to Costa Azul, all of that is Leo's Cabarete Country Club project .

One cannot have a barrio like La Cienaga directly adjacent to a project such as that, can one? The trucks are rolling again today with sand for the Cabarete Country Club project.

Who owns the land in the Bombita area where all these people might be relocated?

So I'm guessing NW to the Food Parq? Does his land go all the way to the beach?
