Maduro, too, is weird.

Oh! Meant to write 'Maduro is weird, too.'
I am not sure what you're saying however Maduro is a Fidel, Guevara and Putin clown. If you disagree with them, you either disappear or go to jail. They put men in jail for having ponytails, earrings and smoking weed, so be careful if you visit.

As long as Maduro has the military in the pocket nothing will change. And they also have positions they won’t give up.
They may not all be in his pocket. If Colombia was still under leadership of Uribe he might give a nudge to that failed state.
DR is lucky to be an island and somewhat insulated from guerillas

Look what this says:

"A number of Western and Latin American countries, as well as international bodies including the UN, have called on the Venezuelan authorities to release voting records from individual polling stations.

Argentina is one country which has refused to recognise President Maduro's election victory, and in response Venezuela recalled diplomats from Buenos Aires.

Diplomats from six other Latin American countries - Chile, Costa Rica, Panama, Peru, the Dominican Republic and Uruguay - have also been withdrawn for what Foreign Affairs Minister Yvan Gil described on social media as "interventionist actions and statements"."

Ouch.

Overall, many airlines are starting to pull the plug on Wednesday at 2pm to prevent passengers being stranded in Venezuela.
Computerized voting is rigged voting.

Guilty on the ponytail.
But I'm too weird and traditional to wear earrings, and weed would just exacerbate my deep paranoia... or so I've been told.

Besides, I'm already goofy-looking as it is: imagine this pinko-commie, tree-hugging, Bernie Sanders-worshipping, and prieto, pobre, viejo, flaco y feo nincompoop high on drugs while sporting earrings. Not here; not ever! Give me beer or give me death.

But Maduro, too, is weird. I bet he hates cats, too.

The election is actually the main topic on the street here in Jarabacoa. Many people think they need to kill Madura to get free elections.
In a world where Russia, China and most of the Middle East recognizes Maduros win it really is complicated.

What does it take for a citizen from Venezuela to enter the DR and become a resident/citizen?
For many simply having one Dominican parent or grandparent since many Dominicans went to Venezuels in the 1980’s. Otherwise, the same requirements all other foreigners need to have to become Dominican citizens apply to them too.

A few years ago after the regularization plan which was geared mostly to Haitians illegally in the DR (with the ensuing international scandal), an additional regularization plan but exclusively for Venezuelans illegally in the DR was conducted. Many Venezuelans fixed their illegal status then (no international scandal with their regularization plan.)

Other than that, they haven’t received preferential treatment unlike the Spaniards whose applications for Dominican visas/citizenship sre expedited with their own section of Migración that takes care exclusively of Spanish citizens. This is part of an agreement with Spain. Dominicans, being part of Latin America, also get preferential treatment when it comes to getting Spanish citizenship such as no requirement to be fluent in Spanish (for obvious reason), allowed to apply to Spanish citizenship with just 2 consecutive years living in Spain vs other non-Latin American/non-Equatorial Guinea citizens who can’t apply before their 10th consecutive year living in Spain, etc.

The military in many places are known to commit treason. I don’t see why Venezuela would be any different. Take the money to not get rid of the guy, then get rid of the guy anyway especially if the replacement guarantee the military will have preferential treatment once they are in power. The military is only in it for the money and privileges, they don’t really care about who is giving them what they want.

That may not be the case. There is a large march of protestors heading towards Guarenas, and the National Guard troops are joining them; disobeying Maduros orders.
I also saw a clip earlier today of Police removing their uniforms in order to join them as well.

Look at the crowd around Maria Corina Machada and Edmundo Gonzalez:

It will not end well for Maduro... If he literally survives this , I will be shocked ..
Soon his loyalists will gun down a few dozen to stop the demonstrations or use his corrupt courts to lockup and beat hundreds of political prisoners for 20 years.........just like some J6 prisoners.

On July 30, 2024, Captains Javier and Juan Carlos Nieto Quintero, representing the Battle of Mosquitero and Battle of Ospino promotions, addressed a message to the national armed forces of Venezuela. In their statement, they urged generals, officers, non-commissioned officers and troops to make the right decisions at this crucial moment. They stressed that the weapons of the Republic must defend the people, not repress them, and highlighted that the popular will has been clear and supported by the international community. They proposed a civil-military transition board led by the president-elect, citing articles 333 and 350 of the Constitution and appealing to the divine plan to overcome the current crisis in Venezuela.

I think every world leader should declare that Maduro is a fraud and refuse to do business with him.

The US was wrong to lift sanctions on Venezuela in exchange for the promise of free and fair elections (with outside observers, which were denied). And he refused many legitimate candidates from being on the ballot.
They tore down statues of Chavez.
Without the power of ballots the people will turn to bullets.
The famous quote is: "You can vote your way into socialism, but you have to shoot your way out"

Hopefully Abinader no longer buys Venezuelan crude or does any trade until the real winner is installed. Recognizing Maduro is supporting oppression.
another Cuba ...in the making.............
