So much for the other forum's contributions by BA staff.
Perhaps waiting for the RD government would be the sane method of progress.
Yes best thing is to start planning and booking when you have evidence of people traveling in as visitors. There is a brave group here trying and testing the waters for the rest of us.

We're booked on a July 9th AA flight OUT of SDQ. July 7, their first flight is totally booked. It's coming from Miami, so wonder where all those people are planning to go. If they're truly allowing in tourists, you'd think there would be some plan.

I was scheduled to fly into POP with Westjet on July 7th. The flight was confirmed up until last Sunday, when it was stated that the flight was cancelled until the beginning of August. Unfortunately, at this time, a flight confirmation really doesn't mean anything until your butt is actually seated on the plane. At this point, I have rescheduled my flight for August 8th. If anything, Covid has taught us that we need to be patience and take each day as it comes. That's a hard lesson for many.

Big risk for the DR to take in tourists from USA given the high levels of infection in the USA

"Tourist" meaning going to a hotel that might not be able execute the new protocols? I tend to agree. BUT, not everyone on these flights to the DR are "Tourists". And they are coming in from "high levels of infectious areas of the USA". What's your thought about allowing them in?

In order to protect the people of the Dominican Republic. I would not be having people arriving from countries with rising infection rates.

With this nasty virus lots of people are asymptomatic, showing no signs of infection, this risks reseeding the virus into the country. Also since the easing of restrictions in the Dominican Republic people seem to be ignoring the social distancing and wearing of masks. I would hate to see the Dominican Republic become the place you do not want to go on holiday because it is the epicentre of Covid19 in the caribbean. It has already gained this reputation and needs to do all it can to reverse this situation.

I have been in two pharmacies yesterday, the bank every day, grocery store and colmado- all have mask protocol and social distancing in place, Pharmacies both had forehead thermometers in use as well so I would say all the rules are being ignored.
