Cooperation between police of D.R., P.R. and N.Y.

The superintendent of the Puerto Rican Police, Pedro Toledo, came to the D.R. last week to hold discussions with the Dominican National Police about the detention of criminals who escape from one island to the other while fleeing justice. Better communication between the two departments is the expressed goal of Mr. Toledo and Camilo Antonio Nazir Tejada, the chief of the Dominican National Police, in order to quickly detain those who have fled from one territory to another to avoid prosecution. In addition to the cooperation between the D.R. and Puerto Rico, the newspaper Listin Diario reports that the New York City police department will soon establish an office in Santo Domingo in order to coordinate the capture and return of those accused of crimes and escape from the D.R. to the U.S. and vice-versa.
