The Dominican Republic Tourism Promotion Office in Germany wants to position the Dominican Republic in the minds of European golfers with or without Covid-19. Petra Cruz, director of the office in Germany, is behind the Touristiker Golf Trophy organization as part of the 10-year old Dominican Golf Cup.
For the first time, the tournament will be played in three golf courses in Germany, one in Switzerland and two golf courses in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic. The final is set for early December 2020.
The free golf series is already being held in Germany. The partners are Dertour and Dertour Golf Club, GGM Gerhardt Golf Marketing and in Switzerland with Golf 4 Companies. The events started on 8 September 2020 in Frankfurt, Golfclub Kronberg eV, on the 10th Münchenbuchsee, Golfpark Moossee (Switzerland). On 16 September, the tournament took place at the Munich, Starnberg Golf Club. On the 18th, golfers are teeing off at the Dusseldorf, Golfclub Mettmann eV.
The grand final is scheduled for early December at the La Cana Golf Course and Westin Punta Cana and the Cocotal Golf Club and Meliá Punta Cana Resort in the Punta Cana area.
A cultural and culinary program is part of all the tournaments with Dominican food tasting and lots of Dominican rum. A one-week stay for two people per tournament is being raffled in Germany and Switzerland among participants. The winners get expenses paid to participate in the final in the Dominican Republic in early December.
