Hard Rock Punta Cana to host FIBA AmeriCup qualifier

FIBA Americas announces that the second window of the FIBA AmeriCup 2022 Qualifiers will be played in a “bubble” format from 27 November to 1 December 2020. The good news is that Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic has been chosen as one of the bubble sites.

The Dominican Republic is in Group C playing Canada, Cuba, US Virgin Islands and the games will be played from 27 to 30 November 2020 at Hard Rock Hotel in northern Punta Cana. The teams are tied.

The hosting of the event was secured with the backing of President Luis Abinader himself, and Tourism Minister David Collado and Sports Minister Francisco Camacho and Rafael Uribe, of the Dominican Basketball Federation, who have are working closely with FIBA basketball executives.

The other matches for the AmeriCup 2021 Qualifiers will be played in Buenos Aires and a site yet to be announced.
