Rains are welcome, but Sahara Dust is coming back

Meteorologist Jean Suriel says that the sulphur dioxide clouds from the Las Palmas volcano eruption are not a threat for the Dominican Republic. In a tweet, he explained that the SO2 over long distances tends to rise into the upper atmosphere, even when traveling at an altitude of more than five kilometers.

Nevertheless, the hot temperatures and hazy skies that come with the Sahara Dust clouds will soon be back.

Meanwhile, residents in the Dominican Republic had a two-day respite thanks to the refreshing rains due to a passing rainstorm. Temperatures dropped on 4 October to a refreshing 21C early in the morning in the capital city.
