Judge Patricia Padilla set the date for the case against former National Drug Control Agency director, Retired Vice Admiral Felix Alburquerque Compres for 15 February 2023. Alburquerque Compres is accused of killing sports commentator Manuel Taveras Duncan in a rage following a trivial yet angry dispute at a fast food stand on Av. Rómulo Betancourt corner Av. Núñez de Cáceres in Santo Domingo. Alburquerque Compres is awaiting trial in the Najayo Jail.
The Public Prosecutor’s Office has kept the former DNCD head in jail, arguing he represents a flight risk.
